UNION MILLS | South Central wasted no time Friday night scoring against Lake Station.

The Satellites scored 16 seconds in on the second play of the game when Robert Miller took the handoff from Kyle Sturdy and found a wide open Adam Clindaniel for a 60-yard touchdown pass.

“It was a great way to start,” South Central coach Dan Klimczak said. “It gave us some momentum going for a touchdown on our first play from scrimmage.”

The Satellites scored 26 points in the first half to help propel them to a 39-0 victory over the Eagles. The win snapped South Central’s two game losing streak, where they had been outscored 65-13.

“We told our kids, our season wasn’t going to be defined by losing two games, our season will be defined by how we respond these games,” South Central coach Dan Klimczak said. “Our kids responded very well, and they came out and played hard. They executed well and did the little things well. It showed.”

Lake Station (2-3, 2-2) had the ball deep in their own territory on their second possession of the game. After a Kody Lemley fumbled snap, Miller recovered and ran back for a 14-yard touchdown to put the Satellites ahead 12-0.

South Central had 526 total yards on offense, including 381 rushing with nine different Satellites running.

Kyle Sturdy passed for 48 yards and a touchdown for South Central (4-2, 2-2). He ran for 89 yards, including a rushing touchdown with 1:45 to go in the second quarter that extended South Central’s lead to 18-0.

Alec Sturdy ran for two touchdowns and had 122 yards rushing on eleven carries. His 52-yard touchdown run in the third quarter off a direct snap from Mark Roney that put the Satellites up 32-0.

Klimczak gave credit to his offensive linemen, Alex Morrow, Kasz Billings, Jake Gilmore, Jonah Pacione and Steve Aldrich for helping the Sturdy brothers in their offensive performance.

“Our offensive line did an outstanding job opening some holes for them,” Klimczak said. “They did a great job opening some running lanes, and Kyle and Alec were able to exploit them.”

The Eagles were only able to gain 122 yards on offense. Lemley was 4-of 14 passing for 43 yards with one interception and was sacked four times. He also ran for 19 yards. Kyle Gooch led Lake Central with 43 rushing yards on five attempts.
