Returning offensive leader
Kyle Sturdy, Sr., QB/DB. 500 yards, 4 TDs passing; 1,250 yards, 19 TDs rushing
Returning defensive leader
Robert Miller, Sr., WR/DB. 6 INTs
Kyle Sturdy, Sr., OB/DB. Sturdy took Union Mills by storm last season by running all over the opposition. The senior quarterback spent all summer working on his throwing mechanics and hopes to be a dual threat this season. "We've put in some more play action and we'll air it out a little more this season," coach Dan Klimczak said.
He's got next
Kane Klimczak, Jr., QB/LB. Klimczak has stood out at linebacker during training camp and his height will be an advantage for the defense this season. "We've got more depth on defense this year than we had last year and Kane is a big part of that," coach Klimczak said.
The Times' breakdown
Dan Klimczak guided the Satellites to a three-win improvement last year despite taking over the program four days before the season opener. With a full training camp together, Klimczak believes his squad is ready take the next step and achieve some success in the postseason following two straight opening-round losses. "I think we're going to be a well-conditioned team that is going to be ready to play late in the season," Klimczak said. South Central will again ride the legs of quarterback Sturdy this season, although both Sturdy and his coach expect to throw the ball more. Kasz Billings and Stephen Aldrich will anchor an experienced defensive line while Dillon Johnson will continue to wreck havoc at linebacker. The offensive line and secondary are rebuilding projects for the Satellites, but Klimczak certainly has a better grasp of his team now than he did a year ago. "We've been able to build together during the offseason," Klimczak said. "We've got more depth and the intensity level is just outstanding."
