The Times Breakdown
Quiroga is back after taking a year off as a head coach. The numbers are down, but he has done a good job of keeping the spirits up and trying to establish a program. He uses the word "enthusiasm" when talking about his players and hopes it becomes infectious this season. With Matthews taking the reigns at quarterback the Pioneers look to have some fun piling up the yards this season. Times all-area linebacker Jones and Ivy give the Pioneers a good linebacker duo. Ivy will be a force on both sides of the ball as will Catron at wide receiver and defensive line. It is a matter of injuries not taking their toll and getting more kids out once school starts.
Quote: "I know this group of kids quite well, and what I have here is a bunch of hardworking, hard-nosed kids that will be willing to play through the whistle every play and throughout the entire game. They will earn the respect that they deserve and I look forward to this being an exciting year for my Pioneers." !~ Quiroga
