HARVEY | If the workhorse load that Thornton's Jamal Towns is carrying for the Wildcats is too much, he didn't look much worse for the wear after another big day.

Towns had 37 carries for 243 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Wildcats to a 56-18 win over Southwest Suburban Conference foe Thornridge.

Sophomore quarterback Jowahn Brown threw for 161 yards and three touchdowns on 10-of-12 passing. Brown took no time getting the Wildcats going when he threw two first-quarter touchdowns to help give Thornton an early 14-0 lead.

"It was great blocking by the (offensive) line," Brown said. "It was great catching and getting open by the receivers. We need to win our last game and head to the playoffs and hopefully get a home-field game."

Towns scored the first of his touchdowns on a 20-yard run with 1 minute, 53 seconds left in the first quarter to put the Wildcats up 21-0. Towns then added his second touchdown when he ran in from 2 yards out nearly four minutes later.

Thornridge answered with two first-half touchdowns of its own. Devonte Stewart scored on an 80-yard run and Ronald Abrams caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from Tevin Newman to draw the Falcons within two scores.

"I think we had a great game overall, but we let up," Towns said. "We went up on them 28-0, then we started to let go. This is our first game though where the offense was actually clicking. We needed this game to have our offense click."

Terrence Thomas took the second-half kickoff 85 yards for the Falcons (0-8, 0-6) to make the score 28-18, but that was as close as Thornridge would get before the Wildcats (6-2, 5-1) recorded four straight scores in the second half.

"We had a lot of mental mistakes we need to correct," Falcons coach Tyrone Richardson said. "It's the same thing we've been practicing all year. We just can't perform it when the game time comes."

Towns added two third-quarter touchdown runs of 3 and 4 yards, and D'Anthony Cross ran 45 yards for the Wildcats' final score of the game. A win this Friday at Andrew would give the Thornton a chance at a home playoff game, but coach Bill Mosel isn't letting his team get too far ahead of itself.

"We've got none of that looking ahead," Mosel said. "We've got one game left in the season. Finish up strong and go from there."
