Five local football players were named to the Illinois Football Coaches Association's all-state teams.
In Class 6A, Crete-Monee senior wide receiver Laquon Treadwell and senior quarterback Marcus Terrell were named to the team.
Thornton's Jalen Banks, a Vanderbilt recruit, was named as a defensive back in Class 7A.
In Class 8A, Bloom Township senior defensive back Josiah Dailey and Homewood-Flossmoor senior center Payson Wick earned the all-state honors.
T.F. South players earn academic all-state honors: T.F. South seniors Peyton Padjen and Austin Berryhill were named to the Illinois Football Coaches Association's Class 7A All-State Academic Team.
Padjen is a quarterback and Berryhill is a two-way lineman.
Girls Swimming
IHSA State meet: Marian Catholic's Abby Kresal and Paige Wieser did not qualify for today's finals at the state meet in Evanston.
Kresal was 16th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.6. The top 12 qualify for today's events. Kresal was also 24th in the 200 individual medley (2:09.45). Wieser finished 54th in the 100 freestyle (56.67).
Girls Basketball
Shepard 39, Illiana Christian 33: Alexa Van Beek's seven points led the Vikings (0-2) in the loss in the Black Pool of the Beecher Ladycat Fall Classic.
Lauren Brink and Tiffnasy Groen had six points each. Shepard led 10-7 after one quarter and 23-16 at halftime. The Vikings closed to 30-25 after three quarters.
Tinley Park 81, Beecher 38: Ashley Carroll's double-double wasn't enough as the Ladycats (0-2) fell to the Titans in the Orange Pool of the Beecher Ladycats Fall Classic.
Carroll had 11 points and 14 rebounds. Katie Howard had 10 points. Danielle Snuckel had six assists, while Sam Pilbeam and Megan Gliva had three steals each.
