Marian Catholic singles player Kyle Scheffers split his two consolation matches on Friday at the IHSA state meet in the northwest suburbs.

He won his fourth round consolation match, beating De La Salle's Steven Hill 6-1, 6-2, but lost his fifth round consolation match. It was his second loss of the tournament and he was eliminated.

Joliet West's Jack Carney beat Scheffers 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.


Lincoln-Way Central 4, Crete-Monee 1: The Warriors (21-9) managed just two hits in the Class 4A Lincoln-Way Central Regional semifinal game.

Craig Quick singled Malik McNeal, who had doubled, in the third to tie the game at 1-1. the Knights scored two in the fifth and added another run in the sixth.


T.F. South golf outing: The T.F. South booster club's annual golf outing will be June 2 at Lincoln Oaks Golf Course.

The outing is a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Dinner, raffles and awards are at 5:30 p.m. It is a best-ball, scramble format.

The cost is $100 for lunch, golf and dinner. Dinner only is $25.
