Marian Catholic junior Tyler Ulis became the program's all-time leading scorer Friday night, but The Times No. 1 Spartans fell 66-61 at St. Viator in an East Suburban Catholic Conference boys basketball game.
Ulis had 30 points and now has 1,445 career points, besting the previous mark set by Cedrick Middleton in 2003. Ulis also had six steals and three assists as Marian fell to 20-2 and 2-2 respectively.
T.J. Parham had 14 points and eight rebounds.
Beecher 63, Grant Park 61, OT: Nick Oosting scored 17 points and dished out six assists to help give Beecher the tough River Valley Conference overtime win.
Austin King led the Bobcats in scoring with 18 points.
Bradley-Bourbonnais 39, Thornridge 37: Darrion Robinson's 12 points weren't enough for the Falcons to overcome the visiting Boilermakers in a defensive struggle.
Antonio Woods added 11 points for Thornridge, which shot just 36 percent from the field.
Homewood-Flossmoor 49, Joliet Central 34: Marcus Willis, Tai Odiase and Marius Hill each led H-F (14-4, 6-1 SWSC) with 10 points in the rout.
Illiana Christian 60, Elmwood Park 49: Elijah Lares scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead the Vikings (13-8, 4-3 Metro Suburban) to the win.
Caleb Jonkman posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Brandon Martin added 12 points for the Vikings.
Thornton 55, Thornwood 36: Brian Nicholson's 16 points gave the Wildcats (8-8, 6-1 SSC) the lopsided win over the Thunderbirds.
Justin Taylor added 10 points for Thornton.
Thornwood's Donzel Vinson had a team-high 11 points.
Boys Bowling
IHSA state finals: After one day at St. Clair Bowl in O'Fallon, both local teams struggled.
T.F. South sits at 20th overall with a score of 5,743 pins, 745 pins behind first-place Minooka.
The Rebels were led by Anthony Pena, who fired a six-game score of 1,318 pins with a high game of 236.
Taveon Roberson (1,140), Devin Brand (1,131) and Justin Abston (1,128) all bowled the full six games.
Mount Carmel is 21st after one day, as Ryan Hernandez leads the way with 1,193 pins. Mike Stepanovic was right behind Hernandez with 1,177 pins, while Jordan Elder rolled a 1,089 score.
Girls Basketball
Tinley Park 50, T.F. South 36: Ninah Bertrand's seven points led the Rebels (7-13, 6-4) in the South Suburban Blue loss to the Titans.
