Kamal Shasi had a double-double and Mark Weems Jr. had 19 points to lead the Seton Academy boys basketball team to a 64-57 Catholic League South win over Leo on Friday night.
Shasi had 16 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Armahn Mooring also had 16 points for the Sting (8-5, 4-1), which took control with a 24-point second quarter while pressing for turnovers and scoring in transition.
Mt. Carmel 80, St. Francis deSales 59: Christian Searles' game-high 28 points led the Caravan (4-5, 2-2) to a Catholic League South win over the Pioneers.
Searles hit five 3-pointers and also had six steals. Bill Barry had nine rebounds and four assists. Gabriel Gant added 14 points.
St. Francis de Sales was led by Raashod Fenner's 19 points and six rebounds. Kamari Simmons had 12 points.
Moline 63, Thornridge 52: Jordan Cottrell's 19 points led the Falcons (1-9) in the loss to the Maroons in the Chuck Dayton Holiday Tournament at DeKalb.
Girls Basketball
Lincoln-Way West 64, Thornton 52: Briana Anthony scored 11 points for Thornton (3-7), but it wasn't enough in the SouthWest Suburban Red Conference loss.
The Wildcats were outscored 24-7 in the third quarter.
Bishop Noll 50, Morgan Twp. 40: Naomi House scored 16 points and nabbed three steals to lead the Warriors (11-1) to the nonconference win.
Hannah Murphy poured in 14 points for Morgan Township (6-7).
Boys basketball
Mount Carmel 80, St. Francis deSales 59: Christian Searles scored a game-high 28 points, which included five 3-point field goals, to lead the Caravan in a Chicago Catholic South Conference victory.
Searles also had six steals, Gabriel Grant had 14 points, and Bill Barry had nine rebounds and four assists for Mount Carmel (4-5, 2-2).
Derrick Dawson had 13 points for St. Francis de Sales.
