Alyssa Matson went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double as Times No. 8 Kankakee Valley beat No. 9 Wheeler 8-3 in Friday softball action.
The Kougars scored seven runs in the sixth inning for the come-from-behind win.
Wheeler's Nickole Finch had two hits and scored a run.
Lake Station 10, South Central 0 (5 inn.): Shelby Jorgensen was nearly untouchable in the circle for the Times No. 7 Eagles, giving up just one hit in a complete-game win.
Tristan Majka and Ashlin Jorgensen both drove in two runs for Lake Station (4-0).
Lake Central 5, Highland 0: Antonio Majstorov had two hits and drove in two runs for the Times No. 1 Indians in the win. Majstorov also pitched four innings and struck out five to earn the victory.
Alec Smith had the lone hit for the Trojans.
Lowell 2, Merrillville 0: Lowell's Bryan Thomas provided all the offense his team needed, going 2-for-2 with a double and driving in both runs, to lead the Red Devils to the win. Lowell pitcher Josh Arnold threw a complete game and struck out four batters.
Merrillville's Brett Deline took the tough-luck loss, striking out five and giving up two earned runs in six innings.
Kankakee Valley Tournament: Kyle Erickson picked up the win and added a two-run triple as Boone Grove defeated Knox 13-1 in six innings. Erickson (1-0) had six strikeouts in four innings. Dean Hill added a two-run double for the Wolves (3-1). Caleb Narrion had a double and three RBIs, while Jon Hogg doubled.
Calumet Invitational: Whiting's Jake Jacobson won medalist honors with a 92, but Hobart took team honors by firing a 393, led by Chris Lavelle (94) and Alex Metz (95).
The Oilers finished second with 435 strokes. Morton was third with 477, and Calumet shot 525 to finish last.
Portage 171, Griffith 189, Kankakee Valley 191: Indians junior Jordan Henson and the Panthers' Brian Brzycki tied for medalist honors with matching 41s, but Portage won the triangular. Tyler Gonzalez and Noah Kunstek had 42s for the No. 9 Indians.
Lake Central 5, Morton 0: The Indians won every match, including a 6-1, 6-0 victory by Kate Toth over Morton's Nancy Martinez.
