Miranda Elish (3-0) tossed a four-hitter with five strikeouts as Times No. 5 Crown Point shut out No. 1 Chesterton 9-0 in Duneland Athletic Conference softball play Friday.

Elish was also 2-for-3 with a double for the Bulldogs (6-3). Rachael Honaker had a home run and two RBIs, while Mandey Shrader was 3-for-4.

The Trojans are now 15-2.

Westville 15, Argos 2: Shaina Jacks, Beth Piotrowski, Michaela Shrader and Danielle Bennitt each added three hits as the Blackhawks defeated the Dragons.

Boone Grove 13, Washington Township 0: Mackenzie Starcevich was 3-for-4 with a triple and three runs scored as the Wolves defeated the Senators in Porter County Conference play. Amanda Hawrot was 3-for-3 with a double and three runs scored; Sarah Brown was 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored, and Kayla Yadron was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Maddy Johnson doubled for Washington Township.

 

Baseball

Clark 10, Hammond 0 (5 inn.): Matt Koch tossed a no-hitter with seven strikeouts in Great Lakes Athletic Conference action. Zach Bucsko added two RBIs for the Pioneers (4-5, 2-1).

Washington Township 14, Boone Grove 8: Bob Ross was 3-for-3 with two doubles, three RBIs and a run scored as the No. 10 Senators (9-1, 3-0) defeated the No. 7 Wolves in PCC play at Coveleski Stadium in South Bend. Cory Holderread added a double, triple, two runs scored and an RBI, while Justin Landgrebe was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs.

Chuck Kidd led Boone with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI.

Morgan Township 6, Hebron 0: Joe Doherty (3-1) tossed a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts and added a two-run double for the Cherokees (8-4, 2-2) in their PCC win over the Hawks (4-4, 1-2).

Hanover Central 18, South Central 0 (5 inn.): Dan Stum had two doubles, three runs scored and he picked up the win with five strikeouts over three innings in a PCC victory for the Wildcats (9-2). Jesse Wilkening was 3-for-4 with two runs scored against the Satellites (7-3).

Kouts 5, LaCrosse 2: Jake Moore tossed a three-hitter with nine strikeouts and added a double as the Mustangs defeated the host Tigers in PCC play. Will Ward added a home run for Kouts.

Valparaiso 14, Merrillville 0 (5 inn.): Stephen Simms had two doubles, a triple, four runs scored and three RBIs to lead the visiting Vikings to a DAC shutout win over the Pirates. Alex Bales went the distance with six strikeouts. He also doubled. Jeff Holmes was 4-for-5 with a double, four RBIs and two runs scored; CJ Gear had a double, home run and three RBIs, and Ethan Lehnen was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI.

Aaron Dye was 2-for-3 for Merrillville.

Chesterton 11, Michigan City 1 (6 inn.): Mike Crowley was 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored as the No. 9 Trojans defeated the Wolves in DAC play. Austin VanderZanden added a double and two RBIs.

 

Girls tennis

Lowell 3, Griffith 2: Holly Opat earned a win in No. 3 singles for Lowell in a Northwest Crossroads Conference win. Sarah Edwards and Meredith Sharkey won in No. 1 doubles, while Katie Swisher and Jessica Bullitt took No. 2 doubles.

Michelle Urena and Sidney Lidster won their matches for Griffith.

Whiting 3, Lake Station 2: The Oilers (5-0, 4-0) swept singles competition, as Grace Huss, Brianna Baez and Maira Huizar all defeated their opponents to earn a Greater South Shore Conference win.

Lake Station's No. 1 doubles team of Dana Reynaga and Desiree Parrillo plus the No. 2 doubles team of Kayla Bailey and Toni Wenger picked up victories.

 

Boys golf

Boone Grove 181, Westville 245, River Forest 282: Dan Peceny won medalist honors with a 42 at Lakes of the Four Seasons as the host No. 10 Wolves (10-1) defeated the Blackhawks (3-2) and Ingots (0-4).
