Tommy Brankin and Matt Benninghoff had 13 points apiece, and Addison Almeda added 10 Friday night in leading host Highland to a 64-46 semifinal tourney win over Morton.
Ben Wood grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds for the Trojans (4-4). Rayan Elabed led Morton (1-5) with 20 points. Darius Coty chipped in 10.
Griffith (5-1) walloped Hobart (2-4) 68-32 in the other semifinal and will meet Highland in tonight's title game at 8.
Indianapolis Marshall Holiday Tourney: Aaron Haggard had 15 points, Antonio Poole 14 and DeAnte Rias 10 as Hammond overcame 10-for-25 foul shooting and rolled over Fall Creek 59-49 in its opener.
Antonio Poole led the way with 18 points, Kortrell Caston 14 and Jeremiah Wilson 13 as the Wildcats (6-3) muscled their way into this morning's tourney semifinals with a 71-39 quarterfinal win over Indianapolis Washington. Hammond will play the winner of Friday's late game, Herron-Horizon Christian.
Boone Grove 52, Whiting 45: Jon Hogg erupted for 27 points to lead the Wolves (3-3) over the Oilers (4-4).
Whiting's Adam Cuculich scored 16 points.
Morgan Township 48, Covenant Christian 43: Jake Koselke's 16 points, five rebounds and five assists lifted the Cherokees (4-3) over the Knights (1-6). Chase Braden added 13 points for Morgan.
Jason Kikkert led Covenant Christian with 15 points and nine rebounds.
Kankakee Valley 44, Frankfort 27: Dylan Jackson (195 pounds) won by pin in 20 seconds, leading the Kougars over the Hot Dogs. Ayden Blake (138), Mike Mikovetz (145) and Tim Schoonveld (182) also won by pin.
Al Smith Invitational: Merrillville is second after the opening day with six wrestlers in the semifinals. Penn leads the Pirates 169-130.5 in the team standings.
Lowell is seventh at 99.5 with four wrestlers in the semis. Chesterton is eighth at 94.5 with four in the semifinals. Lake Central is 10th at 92.5, and Gelen Robinson (220 pounds) is its lone wrestler in the semis.
Raider Diving Invitational: Valparaiso's Allison Poole won the Raider Diving Invitational on Friday at the Purdue Aquatics Center.
Poole finished with 312.8 points. Teammate Taylor McBride was third with 303.5. Hobart's Carly Wynn was 13th (220.35).
On the boys side, Hobart's Juan Marcano was the top local finisher, placing seventh (330.1). Valparaiso's Nick Schwartz was eighth (327.05), and teammate Ryan Bledsoe was 12th (256.4). Also, Hobart's Ramon Gonzales was 15th (85.05).
