Class 2A North Judson used a 22-8 third-quarter spurt to upend Times No. 7 Kouts 56-53 in boys basketball action Friday night.
Dylan Bruce had a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Class A Mustangs (7-1). Jake Bekelya added 15 points and six steals, while Cody Nelson had 11 points.
The Bluejays improved to 4-3.
Boone Grove 53, Hanover Central 35: Ike Mioduski drained two 3-pointers and scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Wolves (4-3) over the visiting Wildcats (0-8). Jon Hogg added 13 points, while Dan Gholston had 10.
Trenton Fanta topped Hanover Central with 13.
Hebron 52, South Central 45: Tony Rose scored a game-high 16 points to lead the host Hawks (6-2, 3-1) over the Satellites (2-6, 0-2) in Porter County Conference play. Drew Wheeler added 13 points, while Bryce Hanaway had 12.
Johnny Rosenbaum led S.C. with 15 points, while Cooper Husmann added 13.
Westville 63, New Prairie 62: Shawn Gerron had a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds plus four assists and two steals to lead the Class A Blackhawks (5-4) over the 3A Cougars (4-2). Chris Wilkins added 14 points, while Alex Henn scored 12.
Morton 65, Gavit 52: The Governors outscored the Gladiators 19-3 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win.
Darius Coty's 18 points led Morton, while Eric Sims paced Gavit with 16 points.
Washington Township 38, LaCrosse 25: The Senators (10-2, 5-1) outscored the Tigers 30-13 in the second half to rally for a PCC win. Heather Burton led Washington Township with 13 points.
Callie McDougal scored a game-high 14 for LaCrosse (5-6, 2-2).
South Central 60, Hebron 32: Jill Rosenbaum and Riley Popplewell combined for 36 points and 31 rebounds as the Satellites (5-6, 2-0) remained in first place in the PCC with a win over the Hawks (4-7, 1-3).
Rosenbaum finished with 18 points and 17 rebounds, while Popplewell had 18 points, 14 rebounds and six steals.
The Satellites pulled away, outscoring Hebron 27-5 in the fourth quarter.
Mia Riese led the Hawks with 10 points.
Kankakee Valley 52, Griffith 23: Lauren Stokes led the Kougars with 11 points and helped her team clamp down on defense for the lopsided win.
The Panthers were limited to just 10 field goals and shot 3-for-16 from the free-throw line.
Merrillville 70, Chesterton 43: AJ Downs scored a game-high 24 points to lead the No. 4 Pirates (9-4, 3-2) over the Trojans (6-7, 2-3) in Duneland Athletic Conference play. Victoria Gaines added a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Caroline Puntillo topped Chesterton with 14 points.
Lake Station 42, Calumet 28: Ashlinn Jorgensen's 20 points and 13 rebounds combined with a defense that allowed just seven points in each quarter helped the Eagles (7-4, 3-3 Greater South Shore Conference) beat the Warriors (2-9, 1-5). Desiree Parillo had seven points, 10 rebounds and seven steals for Lake Station.
Jaireh Ratliff led Calumet with seven points.
Harlan nominated for award: Chesterton's TR Harlan has been nominated for 2013 Indiana Boys Track and Field Coach of the Year by the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches. All nominees will be recognized and the winner announced at the IATCCC's annual meeting Jan. 31 at the Sheraton Hotel at Keystone at the Crossing in Indianapolis.
