Lauren Ladowski scored a game-high 16 points Friday, leading Times No. 4 Lake Central to a 53-33 Duneland Athletic Conference girls basketball win over Crown Point.

Taiylour Kirkwood and Lauren Smolen each chipped in eight points for the Indians (9-4, 3-1).

Ellie Van Deel led the Bulldogs (6-7, 0-4) with 10 points

Michigan City 52, Merrillville 34: Hannah Noveroske posted 22 points for the Wolves (6-5, 1-3) in a DAC matchup.

Denae Joshua had nine points and Torri Miller had eight and four steals to pace the Pirates (1-9, 0-4).

LaPorte 50, Portage 33: Riley Ott racked up 29 points, including a 12-of-13 mark from the free-throw line, and added four steals in leading the No. 5 Slicers (8-2, 4-0) to a DAC win.

Ryin Ott had 15 rebounds for LaPorte.

Bishop Noll 53, Lake Station 51: Courtney Blakely recorded 20 points for the Warriors (6-4, 3-0) in a Greater South Shore Conference victory.

Laila Rogers added 10 points for Noll. Rose Fuentes had eight.

Taylor Austin poured in 30 points and dished out eight assists for the Eagles (6-6, 2-1).

Hanover Central 51, Wheeler 17: Amanda Schreiber posted 24 points for the Wildcats (3-9, 2-1) in a Greater South Shore Conference win.

Boys basketball

Washington Twp. 70, North Judson 54: Zach Little led the Senators (5-0) with 19 points.

Collin Burton (16) and Brock Pappas (15) were also in double figures for Washington Twp.

South Central 59, West Central 38: Carson Husmann scored 18 points and Austin Sallee had 17 for the Satellites (1-6) in their first win of the season.

Josh Sims added nine points for South Central.

Lowell 62, Hobart 50: Noah Durr had 18 points while Grant Monix and Chris Mantis each added 16 in a Northwest Crossroads Conference win for the Red Devils (3-4, 1-0).

Ryan Ashlock and Julian Harvey had 18 apiece for the Brickies (3-3, 0-1).

Illiana Christian 60, Fenton 48: Collin Flipse led the victorious Vikings with 18 points while Andrew and Payton Smits each chipped in 10.

Hammond 88, Gavit 77: Malik Miller totaled a game-high 29 points to lead the Times No. 5 Wildcats (5-1, 2-0) to a Great Lakes Athletic Conference triumph.

Montell Bates had 20 points for Hammond.

Denver Taylor led the Gladiators (1-4, 0-1) with 23 points. Justyn McClinton added 21. Mike Anderson had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Kouts 57, Westville 47: Brent Wireman scored a team-high 17 points and had seven assists and four steals in a Porter County Conference win for the Mustangs (4-2, 2-1). Jake Stewart chipped in 16 for Kouts. Tyler Heimberg had 12 points and seven rebounds.

Cade Albers and Tyrese Walker each had 17 points for the Times no. 9 Blackhawks (5-1, 2-1). Albers added eight rebounds and Walker had five steals.

News and notes

Boone Grove hires two coaches: Boone Grove has hired Matt Bien as girls volleyball coach. He replaces Patti Sparks, who guided last year's team to the highest win total in program history and the first sectional title in 16 years. The school has also hired Joseph Reid as the girls tennis coach. He replaces coach Katie Sarnowski. Reid comes to Boone Grove from Lowell, where he teaches middle school.
