Riley Ott had 22 points, six rebounds and two steals Friday, but LaPorte lost 55-40 to South Bend St. Joseph in the semifinals of the Class 4A Penn Sectional in girls basketball action.

Madison Pierro added five rebounds, while Ryin Ott had nine points, three rebounds, and two assists.

The Slicers led 23-20 at halftime, but the Indians outscored LaPorte 35-17 in the second half.

The host Kingsmen defeated South Bend Riley 64-35 in the other semifinal. Penn and South Bend St. Joseph will meet in Saturday's title game.

Matt Lottich to speak at Calumet Sportsmanship Dinner: Valparaiso University men's basketball coach Matt Lottich will be the keynote speaker at the 64th annual Sportsmanship Dinner.

The dinner, slated for 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 19, will be held at the Halls of St. George in Schererville and will bring together the boys basketball players at the schools participating in five of the Region's sectionals.
