Marquette Catholic junior Sophia Nolan reached 996 career points on Friday with 32 in a 74-21 win over Calumet. Nolan hit 21 points in the first half and didn't play the fourth quarter.
Emma Nolan added 21 points and Morgan Crook had 11, including three 3s, for the Blazers (2-1).
Jai Reed's eight points led Calumet.
Chesterton 40, Munster 38: The Trojans held Munster scoreless in the second quarter, then held off a second-half rally for the nonconference win.
Courtney Kroll and Hailey Vale scored 11 points each for the Trojans. Vale also nabbed 13 rebounds to notch the double-double.
Isabelle Bednarowski led the Mustangs and all scorers with 14 points and Taneigh Boyd chipped in 13.
Locals to run in Mideast meet: Four Northwest Indiana seniors will represent Indiana in the Mideast Meet of Champions Nov. 18 in Kettering, Ohio.
The list of locals includes Jakob Kintzele (Chesterton), Alec Fleming (Lowell), Logan Ferngren (Valparaiso) and Hannah Wylie (Crown Point). Kintzele finished seventh at state, Ferngren was eighth and Wylie 21st. Fleming was a sectional, regional and semistate champion. The team is coached by Portage girls coach Jay White. Munster's Rick Sluder is among the assistants. Indiana will race against teams from Illinois, Michigan and Ohio.
