South Central remained unbeaten in the Greater South Shore Conference on Friday with a 28-14 win over River Forest in football action.

The Satellites improve to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the league, while the Ingots drop to 1-4 overall and 0-3 in the GSSC.

Hammond 54, Clark 12: The Wildcats (2-3, 1-0) picked up the win over the Pioneers (0-5, 0-1) in the Great Lakes Athletic Conference opener for both schools.

Whiting 73, Lake Station 12: The Oilers (3-2, 2-1) crushed the Eagles (1-4, 0-3) in GSSC play.

Girls volleyball

Boone Grove 25-25-25, LaCrosse 10-10-5: Rachael Wilkening had 17 kills and four digs to lead the Wolves (21-4, 5-0) over the Tigers in Porter County Conference play.

Josie Joiner added five aces, seven kills and 10 digs.

Westville 25-25-25, Hebron 7-14-23: Morgan Shreves had eight kills to lead the Blackhawks (12-6) over the Hawks in PCC play.

Sarah Henrich had three aces and six assists for Westville.

Boys volleyball

Hebron 25-25-25, Westville 14-17-14: Carson Roeske had 10 kills to lead the Hawks over the Blackhawks in PCC play. 

Payton Doelling added eight kills, while teammate Steve Miskus added 27 assists and four aces.

Boys soccer

Victory Christian 4, Westville 1: Will Brechner had two goals and an assist for the Lions (7-1-2).

Jaden Byers and Braden Regier each added a goal for VCA.
