Valparaiso's Harley Dubsky took medalist honors Friday with an even-par 74 at the Pat Ford Invitational.
The Times No. 1 Vikings placed third at Beechwood Golf Course. Penn won the title at 328; No. 2 Lake Central tied with the Vikings at 340 but took second on a fifth-score tiebreaker.
"I'm still trying to figure this one out," Valparaiso coach William Miller said. "It was pretty brutal out here with the wind and cold temperatures -- pretty tough conditions.
"Our putting was downright awful. We left so many shots out there. It came down to one shot, and we lose the tiebreaker. Lake Central is a good team. If we have supbar rounds, we'll get beat.
"We have to learn how to adjust to different courses and the different speeds of the greens."
Kiana Jongsma led Lake Central with an 80, and Kylie Shoemake added an 82.
Crown Point's Tiffany Curtis was second with a 74.
