Breakdown
Hawks look to soar to new heights this season
Hebron returns four starters from last year, just one reason why the Hawks think they will be a better team this season. Those starters include seniors Bre Lewin (8.7 ppg) Rylie Shrum (5.6 ppg, 6.2 rpg) and Emily DeFries (3.4 ppg), plus junior Lauren Carlson (5.7 ppg). "We look forward to putting it all together this season," Hebron coach Stephanie Schulte said. For Shrum and others, this season is a chance to take on different role on the team as a leader. "It's really exciting to be the actual leaders this year and help run the show," Shrum said, "It's weird, because I've always looked up to the older players, and now they're not here. I like it." Katie Clemens, the leading player on junior varsity last season, will be asked to step up for many more varsity minutes this year. Madison Bell logged several varsity minutes last season, which helps give the team a seasoned lineup that should have some cohesion. "That brings us a lot of confidence, because we know we've played together before," Shrum said. "It makes the teamwork better and improves our chemistry." !~ Jim Hunsley
