HOBART | Zoe Wilson missed eight, maybe nine bunnies on the night. But the Hobart junior made the one that counted.
Gracye Roach drove the length of the court and found Wilson wide open under Hobart's basket to score at the buzzer to give the Brickies a 54-52 victory over visiting Crown Point.
"I was wide open," Wilson said. "I had not been hitting my bunnies during the game but I didn't give up. We all make mistakes, but you come back and win from mistakes."
Hobart needed to come back all night.
Crown Point jumped out to a 16-6 lead to open the second quarter, led by Abby Kvachkoff. The Bulldogs led most of the game.
The 6-foot-1 senior forward hit two 3-pointers in the last minute of the first quarter and drained a long two-pointer at the start of the second.
But the Brickies held Kvachkoff silent the rest of the quarter. She finished with eight points -- all scored in the first half.
That's when Hobart's Grayce Roach took over. The senior point guard scored all 10 of her first-half points in the second on steals, drives and free throws.
Roach's free throws off a steal and foul cut Crown Point's lead to 18-15 at the 2:46 mark in the second quarter.
"She's a great guard and she can handle the pressure," Hobart coach Mike Hamacher said. "She really carries our team. But she's not big-headed. She makes the right decisions at the right time."
Hobart's Cailin Trezak stepped up at the right time, too.
The junior sharp-shooter took over the third quarter, hitting four 3-pointers for the Brickies without missing an attempt. Her bomb at the buzzer tied the game at 40.
"Coach told us at halftime we needed to pick it up," Roach said. "He singled out a few players and Cailin took it personally. She executed."
The Brickies took their first lead of the game 43-42 at the 6:22 mark in the fourth on a Roach free throw from her steal and drive.
Roach finished her final regular-season home game with 20 points, five steals and four assists.
Wilson finished with 12 points and six rebounds for the Brickies (13-8). Trezak added 13 -- all in the third.
Katija Tarailo led Crown Point (12-7) with 14 points and seven rebounds. Hannah Albrecht added 13 points.
