Chesterton (7-7): The Trojans saw their Duneland Athletic Conference record slip to 2-3 with a 70-43 loss to Merrillville last week, but they bounced back with a 64-22 decision over Clark. It was only their second meeting with Clark. The other came in the 1981 season. Senior area scoring leader Caroline Puntillo totaled 28 points in the two games to move over the 800 mark to 803. She is the seventh Chesterton female to reach the 800 mark.
Hebron (4-7): Freshman Mia Riese scored a career-best 10 points in a 60-32 loss to South Central.
Kouts (7-4): A 48-32 loss to South Central snapped the Fillies’ four-game win streak. Sophomore guard Bella Wireman recorded a career-high 16 points. Junior Jayla Crump scored five points to give her 602 for her career. She went past 2008 grad Hannah McNeill into the top 20 in Kouts history.
Portage (7-7): The Indians improved their DAC record to 2-3 with a 36-32 victory over Valparaiso. It was their third straight win over the Vikings, but they trail the series 55-18. Sophomore Kaitlyn Steers scored seven points to move over the 200 mark to 202.
South Central (6-6): Victories over Hebron and Kouts improved the Satellites' Porter County Conference record to 3-0, which ties them for the league lead with Morgan. Senior Jill Rosenbaum totaled 29 points in the two games to move over the 900 mark to 915. She is the sixth player in South Central history to reach 900. Junior Maddie Tomblin added a season-high 10 points against Kouts.
Valparaiso (7-8): The Vikings rebounded from a loss to Portage with a 53-31 win over E.C. Central. Junior Grace Withrow totaled 35 points in the two games to move past 1980 grad Sue Watts and 2011 grad Ariana Paul into 17th place in Valpo history.
Washington Township (11-2): The Senators topped LaCrosse, 38-25, and Tri County, 41-27, to run their win streak to seven games. The win over the Tigers improved Washington’s record to 5-1 in PCC play. This is the best start to a season for the Senators since the 1981 team began with the same 11-2 mark. Junior Heather Burton totaled 30 points in the two games, moving past 2002 grad Ashleigh Griechen and into a tie with 2010 grad Abbey Walters for sixth on the Washington scoring list.
Wheeler (5-8): The Bearcats dropped a 50-40 decision to Whiting but came back with a 55-47 win over Hanover Central. Junior Allie Stevenson matched her season high with 15 points in each game. Junior Shannon Eden notched a career-best 18 points against the Wildcats.
Boone Grove (4-4): Junior Dan Gholston scored a personal-best 10 points in the Wolves’ 53-35 win over Hanover Central.
Chesterton (6-3): The Trojans broke an 11-game losing streak in the series with a 68-42 win over Merrillville. Junior Chris Palombizio scored 23 points and moved into the top 35 on the Chesterton scoring list. Senior Corey Rusboldt added a career-high 19 points. Senior Jake Wasielewski scored 13 to move over the 200 mark to 206.
Hebron (6-2): A 52-45 win over South Central ran the Hawks' winning streak to five games. The Hawks, 3-1 in the PCC, gave coach John Steinhilber his fifth straight over the Satellites since moving from South Central to Hebron. Junior Drew Wheeler accounted for a career-best 13 points.
Kouts (8-1): The Mustangs suffered the first blemish on their record with a 56-53 loss to North Judson, but they responded with a 68-53 win over Oregon-Davis. They lead the series with the Bobcats 30-18 and have won the last seven meetings. Senior Matt Stewart scored 13 points against O-D and went over the 600 mark to 601, becoming the 34th player in Kouts history to reach 600. Senior Jake Bekelya totaled 40 points in the two games to move over the 200 mark to 232. Sophomore Dylan Bruce notched a personal-best 14 points against the Bluejays.
LaCrosse (2-8): The Tigers suffered an 86-58 loss to Washington Township, but they snapped a five-game losing streak with a 66-47 win over Victory Christian. Sophomore Zach Brown netted a career-high 23 points against VC. Senior Bryce Guse totaled 37 points in the two games and moved past 2005 grad Bryan Poort into 43rd on the LaCrosse scoring list.
Morgan Township (5-4): The Cherokees recorded a 45-28 win over Boone. The 28 points is the fewest allowed by a Morgan team since a 64-26 win over Washington Township in 2008.
South Central (2-7): The Satellites followed their seven-point loss to Hebron with a 69-39 loss to LaPorte. Sophomores Johnny Rosenbaum (15) and Cooper Husmann (13) each established a career best against Hebron.
Valparaiso (7-4): The Vikings ran their winning streak to four games with victories over Portage, 46-25, and Lafayette Jeff, 54-40. Valpo has won 13 in a row from the Indians and has dominated the series 103-27. Senior Justin Osburn totaled 24 points in the two games to move over the 300 mark to 323. Valpo has allowed 40.8 points per game, which ranks fifth in the state.
Washington Township (7-2): The Senators posted wins over LaCrosse, 86-58, and Frontier, 56-53, giving them six wins in their last seven games. The 7-2 start is the best at Washington since the 1990 team began with an identical record. It was the first-ever meeting with Frontier. Seniors Alex Lowther (19) and Joe Nugent (14) each recorded personal bests against LaCrosse. Senior Bryce Pappas scored a career-high 22 points against Frontier. Senior Brandon Adkins totaled 36 points in the two games, including a season-high 24 against the Tigers. In the process, he moved past 1972 grad Steve Maxey into the top 25 in Washington history.
Westville (5-4): The Blackhawks surprised New Prairie 63-62 and stopped a six-game losing streak in the series, which has been dominated by the Bulldogs 28-5. Senior Alex Henn netted a season-high 12 points.
