Boone Grove (2-3): Sophomore Sarah Brown scored a personal-best 14 points in a 60-31 loss to Andrean last week.
Chesterton (2-3): The Trojans suffered a 57-54 loss to Lake Central. The Indians have won the last six meetings between the two schools. Two of Chesterton’s three losses this season are by five points or less.
Kouts (3-2): The Fillies defeated North Judson 47-38 for their fourth win in the last six meetings with the Bluejays. Junior Olivia Birky tied her career best with 10 points.
Morgan Township (4-2): The Cherokees recorded wins over Hebron, 46-28, and South Bend Clay, 60-30. Senior guard Trina Coleman totaled 25 points in the two games and moved past 1989 grad Annette Beschinski into seventh on the all-time Morgan scoring list with 966 points. Freshman Kameron Stanko recorded a personal-best 14 points against Hebron. Morgan holds a 42-39 edge in its series with the Hawks.
Portage (4-2): The Indians snapped a seven-game losing streak in the series with a 55-32 win over Michigan City. They followed with a third-place finish in the Tippecanoe Valley tournament. They dropped the opener to the host school, 46-28, before topping Munster, 63-47, in the consolation. Senior Alexis Johnson scored a career-high 22 points against Michigan City. Freshman Kaitlyn Shafer notched a career-best 11 points against Munster.
South Central (0-3): The Satellites suffered a 52-49 loss to John Glenn. It was their seventh loss in the last eight meetings in the series.
Valparaiso (2-3): The Vikings fell to Merrillville, 57-28, marking their 12th consecutive loss to the Pirates.
Washington Township (3-1): The Senators earned a split for the week with an 83-37 loss to Class A No. 1 Oregon-Davis and a 45-19 win over Covenant Christian. Junior Heather Burton tallied 19 points against Covenant to move over the 600 mark to 617. In the process, she went past 1997 grad Jennifer Golub into 11th place on the Senators scoring list. Senior Maddy Johnson totaled 10 points in the two games to move over the 300 mark to 307.
Wheeler (1-3): The Bearcats rebounded from a 60-27 loss to Kankakee Valley to defeat River Forest 37-30 for their first win of the season. Junior Shannon Eden totaled 27 points in the two games to move over the 200 mark to 204. She recorded a personal-best 14 points against the Kougars. Wheeler has a 23-12 advantage in its series with the Ingots.
Boone Grove (0-1): The Wolves' 40-27 loss to Valpo was their 12th straight in the series, which the Vikings lead 35-5. The last time a Boone team scored fewer points was in 1955 in a 22-17 loss to Morgan.
Chesterton (1-0): The Trojans stifled Mishawaka 44-26 in their opener. Junior Chris Palombizio led the way with 19 points and moved over the 400 mark for his career to 410.
Hebron (1-1): The Hawks opened with a 52-34 win over Covenant Christian before falling to Kouts 58-45. Juniors Bryce Hanaway (20) and Spencer Sutherland (11) each recorded a personal best against Covenant. Senior Tony Rose totaled 31 points in the two games, including a game-high 23 against the Mustangs, to move over the 200 mark for his career to 201. Hebron is 5-0 in its series with Covenant.
Kouts (2-0): New coach Matt Crawford opened with wins over West Central, 73-53, and Hebron. Senior Jake Bekelya notched a career-high 22 points against the Trojans. Sophomore Dylan Bruce had a career-best 12 points against the Hawks. Senior Matt Stewart matched his personal best with 22 points against West Central and became the 59th player in Kouts history to reach the 500-point milestone. Stewart ranks 52nd, behind 1958 grad Skip Upton, with 523 points. It was Kouts' 23rd consecutive win in Porter County Conference round-robin play. The Mustangs have won 11 of the last 13 meetings with Hebron but trail in the series 111-78.
LaCrosse (0-1): The Tigers fell to River Forest 71-52 in their opener despite 22 points from senior Bryce Guse, who moved over the 400 mark to 418. Junior Corey James, a transfer from LaPorte, added 15 points.
Morgan Township (1-0): Junior Tyler Abbett scored a career-high 19 points in a 70-36 win over Knox. Sophomore Jake Koselke added 12 to move over the 200 mark to 202. Morgan is 12-20 in its series with the Redskins.
Portage (1-0): The Indians' win over Highland, 54-35, provided coach Rick Snodgrass with his 299th career coaching victory. Snodgrass is in his 30th year overall, his seventh at Portage. The Indians have a 34-22 advantage in the series with the Trojans.
Valparaiso (2-0): New coach Matt Thomas opened with a 40-27 win over Boone followed by a 63-26 defeat of Hobart. Sophomore Conner Tenhove tossed in a career-best 11 points against the Wolves and topped that with 15 more against the Brickies. Valpo has a 69-16 advantage over Hobart in the series and has taken 21 of the last 22 meetings.
Washington Township (1-0): The Senators beat Covenant Christian 69-37 in their opener to take a 6-0 lead in the series. Junior Alex Lowther notched a career-high 18 points, while junior Jake Goodan added 13 in his varsity debut.
Westville (0-1): The Blackhawks fell to North White 71-60 despite 21 points from senior Michigan City transfer Chris Wilkins.
