Boone Grove (2-8): The Wolves suffered Porter County Conference losses to Kouts, Morgan Township and LaCrosse in running their losing streak to seven games, the longest skid for the Wolves since the 1998 team dropped its last 10 games. Sophomore Sara Martinez scored a career-high 13 points against Kouts.
Hebron (4-6): The Hawks fell to Bishop Noll 45-33, and Kouts 43-41. Junior Madison Bell tallied a career-high 16 points against Kouts and went over the 200 mark for her career to 215.
Kouts (6-3): The Fillies improved to 3-1 in the PCC with a 51-30 win over Boone, prior to a two-point victory over Hebron. Junior Megan Heinold recorded a personal-best 15 points against the Hawks, including a game-winning layup at the buzzer. The win over the Wolves snapped an 11-game losing streak in the series for the Fillies. Kouts has won 13 of its last 14 meetings with Hebron.
LaCrosse (4-4): The Tigers dropped a 51-29 decision to River Forest but bounced back with a 38-34 win over Boone. The win over the Wolves stopped a 23-game losing streak in the series. It was their first meeting ever with the Ingots, who replaced Hanover Central on the Tigers’ schedule. This is LaCrosse’s best start since the 1993 squad began with a 6-4 mark.
Morgan Township (8-3): The Cherokees’ 40-20 win over Boone snapped a 14-game losing streak in the series with the Wolves. Senior Trina Coleman scored 13 points to move past 1988 grad Stephanie Yanta into sixth place on the Morgan scoring list.
Portage (6-5): The Indians topped Hobart 31-25 before falling to LaPorte 74-26. Senior Alexis Johnson totaled 17 points in the two games to move over the 400 mark to 407. Portage has a 32-13 advantage over the Brickies and leads the series with the Slicers 34-16.
South Central (3-5): The Satellites defeated Wheeler 60-28 before falling to Triton 49-31. Senior Jill Rosenbaum tallied 18 points against Triton to move past 2001 grad Hannah Herrold into a tie for seventh on the South Central scoring list with 1988 grad Shilo Carson. The Satellites have a 10-2 advantage over the Bearcats in the series.
Valparaiso (4-6): The Vikings recorded a 54-45 Duneland Athletic Conference win over Chesterton prior to a 65-34 loss to Penn. Valpo had won its previous seven games against Penn. Junior Grace Withrow led the way in the win over the Trojans with 20 points and moved past 1986 grad Rochelle Meyers into 23rd on the Valpo scoring list.
Washington Township (6-2): Senior Sammie Higgins scored a career-high 21 points in a 63-23 win over Westville. Washington is off to its best start since the 2002 team began its season 7-2. Sophomore Paige Ruesch matched her personal best with 11 points.
Westville (0-9): Junior Stephanie Popp accounted for a career-best 13 points in a loss to Washington. The Blackhawks fell to New Buffalo 57-19.
Wheeler (3-7): Freshman Kadie Spoor netted a career-high 10 points in a 46-30 loss to Bishop Noll.
Boone Grove (2-3): The Wolves topped LaCrosse 63-46, with senior Niko Kilburg (12) and junior Kyle Kaminski (11) posting career bests.
Chesterton (4-1): The Trojans edged E.C. Central 58-57 in the first-ever meeting between the schools. Junior Chris Palombizio led the way with 23 points and moved past 1990 grad Nate Bush into the top 50 on the Chesterton scoring list. Senior guard Cole Teal added a season-high 17 points.
Hebron (4-2): Junior Bryce Hanaway fired in 20 points in a 44-42 victory over Morgan, bringing his career total to 200. The Hawks have a 105-74 advantage in the series.
Kouts (6-0): The Class A No. 3-ranked Mustangs remained unbeaten with a 79-59 win over Westville behind a season-high 24 points from senior Cody Nelson. Senior Cole VanDyke added a personal-best 15 points. Senior Matt Stewart tallied 10 points and moved past 1985 grad Tony Hamann into the top 40 on the Kouts scoring list. Kouts leads the series with the Blackhawks 41-23 and has won the last five meetings.
LaCrosse (1-5): Senior Bryce Guse scored 17 points in a loss to Boone and became the 58th player in LaCrosse history to reach the 500-point milestone.
Morgan Township (3-3): The Cherokees chalked up a 62-56 win over Oregon-Davis prior to a loss to Hebron. Junior Chase Braden totaled 36 points in the two games, which included a season-high 21 against O-D. In the process, Braden went over the 600 mark to 603 and moved past 1965 grad Don Snider into 45th on the Morgan scoring list. Sophomore Jake Koselke notched a personal-best 19 points in a loss to Hebron.
Portage (3-2): The Indians dropped an overtime battle to Lowell 43-41 in the first meeting between the two schools since 1998. Portage has a 34-21 advantage in the series. Senior Mike Lattanzi matched his career high with 11 points against the Red Devils.
South Central (1-4): Juniors Mark Richards (17) and Collin Froedge (12) each posted a career best in a 60-58 loss to Bremen. Richards reached the 200-point mark for his career.
Valparaiso (3-3): The Vikings snapped a three-game losing streak with a 41-39 overtime victory over Elkhart Memorial. Valpo leads the series 6-4. It was the first meeting between the two schools since 2003.
Washington Township (3-1): Sophomore Alex Perez recorded a personal-best 11 points in a 66-58 PCC conference win over Westville. It was the first time a Washington team has started the season by winning three of its first four games since 2001.
Westville (2-3): Junior Austin Swistek tossed in a career-high 11 points in a loss to Kouts and duplicated that effort in a loss to Washington. Senior Alex Henn tallied four points against the Senators to move over the 200 mark to 201.
Wheeler (2-3): Junior Logan Hubbard tossed in a career-high 10 points in a 58-44 loss to Highland. Senior James Miller notched a personal-best 17 points in a 54-37 loss to Andrean. The 59ers have won nine of the 11 games played between the two schools.
