Last year: 3-18, 0-6 GLAC.
The Wildcats have nowhere to go but up from the 2012-13 season. The team struggled through a three-win campaign, which included a stretch of 12 straight losses at the end. New head coach Alan Camper is ready to work with a group that is hungry for improvement. Twenty girls were out at the Oct. 30 practice, so numbers are good. "Once they see how the season is going and they pick up on what I expect, and I instill that winning attitude, they'll be all right," Camper said. Hammond may have the tallest player in the region in 6-foot-4 senior Kayla Williams, who will be a player to watch as long as she can play meaner, according to Camper. The Wildcats have a tough November, traveling to Portage, Bishop Noll and West Side to open the season. They will definitely be tested early. — Matt Douthett

Dartayvia Beals, Jr., G: Beals has been at conditioning and open gym since the summer. She's been receptive to developing into a complete player instead of relying on just making jump shots.
Newcomer to watch
Diamond Fields, Fr., G/F: Fields is a well-rounded player, but needs to work a little bit on her defense. She possesses excellent ball-handling skills despite being 5-foot-10.
