Breakdown
Rebuilding from ground zero
George Williams, a 1999 Andrean grad, is the Wildcats' fourth head coach since 2005-06. He has no returning varsity players and only two -- Beals and Amari Norwood -- who played junior varsity last season. Of the 22 girls in his program, 12 are freshmen. "I'll tell you this much: I love Hammond High. I'm here for the long haul. I'm not just a passing ship," Williams said. "I told these girls I'm going to put them in the fire right away and play a lot of them. I want to get their feet wet and develop a good rotation." Because of their youth, the 'Cats must quickly learn the game's rules. Williams believes two freshmen in particular, 5-foot-10 Andriana Coleman and 5-9 Le'Rona Shelby, are stars in the making. !~ Al Hamnik
