Last year: 14-11, 3-4 PCC
The Cherokees have won back-to-back sectional titles, and they return several pivotal parts from those clubs. Trina Coleman is one of the area's top players, and she led her team in points, steals and assists per game last season. Perimeter threat Brianna Leuck is also back, and the Holy Cross (South Bend) recruit is a quality 3-point option. Hannah Murphy made her presence felt in the low post a season ago. Katie Bachert and Alison Goetz missed parts of the season with injuries, while Lauren Bobinski and Morgan Lippens were important role players during the 2012-13 campaign. Freshmen Kia Holder (6-foot) and Kameron Stanko (5-10) might also provide depth in the low block. All of this has coach Kevin Krieger beaming. "We return much experience mixed in with some young players," he said. "If we continue to focus on improving every day, and play as a team, this could be a really talented team." — Jim Hunsley
