The Bombers are back in Class 2A after six seasons in 3A that culminated in a sectional championship at Hanover Central. They will be shooting for back-to-back sectional titles for just the second time in school history and will have to find a way to replace about half of their scoring and rebounding from a year ago. “We’re excited, but we’re going to be a little bit different team this year,” coach Jeff Marlowe said. “We’re not as big as we were.” The Bombers will look to run more this season. “We want to push the tempo a little bit more, but we’ve got to do it without making mistakes,” Marlowe said. The Bombers plan to build around two returning starters, Megan Dobson and Aimee Mattocks, and they have some quality players to fill in as needed. Expected to contribute are senior Courtney Schleman and underclassmen Emily Tonner and Mackenzi Marohl among others. Marlowe also likes the potential three-year varsity player Dobson brings to each game. She has the ability to become more of a scorer this season, having the experience of going through the grind of winning a sectional. “We think we’re going to be competitive,” Marlowe said. “We think come sectional time we’re going to be one of the teams that people look at as the favorite or the team to beat. — Christopher Breach

Aimee Mattocks 6.5 rpg.
Aimee Mattocks, Sr., F: Mattocks has a strong inside presence and has the ability to step outside and shoot it from 15 feet. “If she can do that consistently, it’s going to open up some things inside,” Marlowe said.

Mackenzi Marohl, So., G: She played quite a bit as a freshman but didn't have to score much. This year she will be counted on for putting the ball in the basket.
