Star power: Laura Tonner, Sr., G: Tonner is an excellent athlete and has worked hard on becoming a more consistent shooter. She‘s getting some looks from Division III schools.
Newcomer to watch: Aimee Mattocks, Jr., F: Mattocks had to watch and learn in her reserve role last year, but the talented junior is ready to step up and be a key player in the paint.
Bombers want to be in the mix
The Bombers return three starters among seven letterwinners and look to improve on their finish of a season ago. Seniors Laura Tonner and Emilie Ziese give the Bombers a strong inside-outside punch that will pose a stiff challenge for opponents. “We need them to play the way they’re capable of, night-in and night-out,” coach Jeff Marlow said. Running the show for the Bombers will be capable point guard Rachel Dobson, another senior who brings a wealth of experience. Marlow is looking for solid contributions from Mattocks, Chelsea Hughes and a deep bench. Marlow said the Bombers will have to count on the development of their role players to challenge for a sectional title. “We want to be in that mix,” he said. “We want to be part of the discussion when it comes down to it. I don’t care if we’re in the discussion right now in November, but I just want to be part of the discussion in February. I’m pretty confident we will be." !~ Christopher Breach
