Searching for the right fit
Lani Edmonds, a 2003 E.C. Central grad, played point guard on the Cardinals' 19-0 team her senior year. She is the Panthers' third head coach since 2010-11 and says she's here for the long haul. Stability is a good place to start. Roosevelt returns only two players with varsity experience: Tah'Shima Shelby and Keanda Keith. "I always want them to go hard. If you can't say you went hard, what's the point?" Edmonds said. The Panthers have some size, decent shooters and are above-average ball handlers but need work on communication skills. "They talk all day in school, in the classroom, but when it comes to letting teammates know a screen is coming, (communication) goes down," Edmonds said. !~Al Hamnik
