Fast facts: Kankakee Valley went 2-2 against Duneland Athletic Conference teams in the regular season, losing to Valparaiso (Nov. 7) and Chesterton (Dec. 18) while beating Crown Point (Jan. 16) and Portage (Jan. 25). In the postseason, KV is 3-0 against DAC teams (Merrillville, Michigan City, Valparaiso). … Lake Central hasn't played KV in the regular season since 2002-03, when the Indians beat the Kougars to finish a stretch of three straight wins. The three games marked the only time since 2000 that the teams have played. At that time, KV was a Class 3A team. … Penn's only loss in the regular season was to Lake Central, 51-43 on Nov. 18. The Kingsmen have since won 20 straight. … Penn has won a regional title in every even year since 2012.
