Marian Catholic's Sylvie Brick is in a six-way tie for seventh place and the Spartans are in sixth place after the first day of the Class AA state girls golf meet at Hickory Point Golf Club in Forsyth.
Brick shot a 79 on Friday and the Spartans have 345 strokes, four back of fifth-place Hinsdale Central. Prospect is in first place with 325.
Marian's Bree Veazey is tied for 26th place with an 83. Nina Nicpon shot a 91 and Samantha Barlage a 92.
Homewood-Flossmoor's Katleyn Hoag is tied for 60th with an 88.
Waubonsie Valley's Bing Singhsumalee is the leader with a 75.
In the Class A meet at Red Tail Run Golf Course in Decatur, Normal U-High is in first place with a 340.
In the boys meets, North Shore Country Day is leading in Class 1A with a 316. In Class 2A, Belleville Althoff leads with 308 and Lake Forest is in first place in the Class 3A meet (308).
All tournaments continue today at the respective sites.
