Marian Catholic opened its girls swimming season by winning eight of 11 events against host Lincoln-Way West and Crete-Monee and breaking a pool record in the process.
The Spartans' 200-meter freestyle relay team -- junior Katelyn Kresal, freshman Sophia Sesto, junior Candice Harris and senior Carlee Wieser -- broke its own pool record in the event by five seconds as Marian swept all three relays. Isabell Keating won the 200 individual medley, Harris won the 100 butterfly, Kresal too the 500, and Sophia Sesto won the backstroke for the Spartans.
Crete was led by Lauren Carlos in the 100 freestyle, and Lincoln-Way West was led by double winner Emily Gallagher.
Proviso West 72, Thornton Twp. 22 | The 200 freestyle relay went to the Bell-Williams-Bullock-Saenz quartet for Thornton.
Boys Soccer
Illinois Lutheran 12, St. Anne 1 | Evan Henschel had four goals, Jonathan Clayton had three (with an assist) and Nick Durand added two as Illinois Lutheran (6-2) rolled.
Bishop Noll 6, Wheeler 5 | Jesus Martinez, Gonzalo Romo, Zach Gasper, Robert Lorenz, Jarron Moore and Angel Zumudio had one goal each as the Warriors offset Gavin Voss' five-goal one-man show.
Boys Golf
T.F. North 194, Bremen 225 | The Meteors improved to 5-2 as Dennis Minesee shot a 6-over 42, one stroke better than teammate Andrew Swibes.
Girls Tennis
Crete-Monee 5, Rich East 1 | Dana Drew and Tina Moscatel won at Nos. 1 and 2 singles without giving up a point.
Marian Catholic 5, McNamara 0 | Spartans singles stars Gaby Rosales and Giselle Beebe won in straight sets with identical 6-0, 6-0 scores as Marian improved to 9-0 (2-0 ESCC).

Bishop McNamara 25-25, Beecher 14-16 | Brittany Weiss had three kills, five blocks; Amari Griffin had four kills and two blocks and Jordyn Beck had three digs and 12 assists for the Ladycats.
Illiana Christian 25-25, Fenton 17-18 | The Vikings (5-1, 3-1 Metro Suburban) rolled behind Breanna Vanderwall (8 digs, 14-15 serving, 2 aces); Justine Postma (4 kills, 6 blocks, 4-4 serving); Kaylin Kramer (8 kills, 1 block, 8-8 serving); and Katie Larson (4 digs, 1 block, 5 kills, 6-7 serving).
Walther Lutheran 25-25, St. Francis deSales 21-10 | The Pioneers (4-4) fell to .500 despite the efforts of Melissa Carrillo (8-8 serving, 2 aces), Amber Malkowski (6 digs) and Jessica Jose (2 blocks).
