Jorge Abrahan's 25-yard field goal with less than a minute remaining Friday night lifted Thornwood over Thornridge 22-20 in SouthWest Suburban Red Conference play.
"I know this school has lost a few games on field goals, but from I've been told, this may be the first time we've won a game with one," Thorwood first-year coach Billy Bundy said.
Anthony Andrews scored twice for the Thunderbirds (2-4, 1-3), one on a 70-yard pass play with quarterback DaQuan Richie and another on a 13-yard sweep.
Thornwood had took a 13-7 lead at the half, but the Falcons (0-6, 0-4) later went up 20-19 with five minutes remaining.
After Abrahan's field goal, Andrews sealed the game for Thornwood with an interception.

Early on, it looked as if Marian Catholic was on its way in putting a halt to its three-game skid when the Spartans jumped out 10-0.
Kicker Chris Taborn opened the scoring for the Spartans with a 43-yard field goal early in the first quarter. Little more than four minutes later, Dillon Burns ran it in from 4 yards out to increase the advantage.
Champaign Central, which also went into the game on the heels of a three-game losing streak, resoundingly shut the door. Its defense limited the Spartans to just 99 yards of total offense, which included 20 yards on 19 rushing attempts.
