Taylor Johnson had 11 points, while Sam Pilbeam and Danielle Snuckel had 10 each to lead the Beecher girls basketball team to a 49-34 River Valley Conference win over Gardner-South Wilmington on Monday.
Johnson added seven rebounds, and Pilbeam chipped in four steals and three assists. Snuckel had two steals and two turnovers for the Ladycats (3-3, 1-0).
Hillcrest 73, Thornton 47: Mitzi Terry's 15 points led the Wildcats (2-2) in a nonconference loss to the Hawks.
Leesaa Greenwood had nine points and 10 rebounds, and Briana Anthony had six points and seven rebounds.
Tanzania Sherrill's 18 points led Hillcrest (2-2).
Crete-Monee CrossTown Shootout: The inaugural Crete-Monee CrossTown Shootout is Saturday at Crete-Monee High School.
The host Warriors face Hillcrest at noon, followed by Marist and IMG Academy (Florida) at 1:30 p.m. LaPorte LaLumieire takes on Wendell Phillips at 3, then Bloom Township will play Geneva at 4:30 p.m
Kenwood and Tinley Park square off at 6 p.m., followed by Milwaukee Rufus King and IMG Academy at 7:30 p.m.
Admission is $3 for adults, children $1 (must be accompanied by an adult), high school students with a valid ID $2 and senior citizens get in free.

T.F. South to host seminar: T. F. South is hosting “Concussions in Sport” seminar at 6:15 p.m. today in the red gymnasium. Dr. Timothy Mullaly, from the Indiana Sports and Medical Institute, will be leading a seminar about what a concussion is, diagnosing a concussion, symptoms of concussions, treatment options and return to play protocols. Parents and athletes are all welcome to attend.
