LANSING | T.F. South made sure this one was over early for visiting Bremen.
The Rebels used a 15-3 first quarter to jump out to an early double digit lead and roll on the way to a 64-26 victory over South Suburban Blue opponent Bremen.
T.F. South senior Kaitlin Togtman led all scorers with 20, including four three pointers and two four-point plays. Ninah Bertrand added 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Rebels, who never trailed in the game.
"I think we had good energy," Bertrand said. "Everybody came with a good attitude to accomplish our goal. Everybody's decision making is getting better. That's leading into passes and scoring and assists."
T.F. South (8-12, 6-4) held Bremen to just nine first half points. The Braves managed just two field goals in the first half. The Rebels out rebounded Bremen 37-18 on the night.
"We started to get the hang of things and just pass a lot," Togtman said. "Everyone's moving and everyone has something to do. It creates plays and it creates openings. We had a lot of chances and we committed with them."
Kameron Dickens scored 13 and pulled down seven rebounds for the Rebels. T.F. South's Kaneisha McIntosh scored six and had five steals in the win. Rebel head coach Steve Breshock said T.F. South was looking to jump out to an early lead against the Braves and try to control the game with a lead.
"We wanted to have a good first quarter," Breshock said. "Get a lead and then keep on having a good quarter every quarter. Instead of having one good or bad quarter, we wanted to have four good quarters."
The Rebels will face T.F. North on Friday, and Breshock is waiting to see if his team can carry momentum from Tuesday's win into the rest of the week.
"We'll find out on Friday," Breshock said. "It was one good game. But now do we practice real well for the next two days and we're competitive on Friday? That's what I want to see."
