Sam Agyarko is out as the Thornwood High School athletic director.
A source close to the school's athletic program confirmed that Agyarko was let go as athletic director, but would remain as a teacher. He served one year as athletic director.
Agyarko did not return phone calls or text messages from The Times.
Neither District 205 Director of Public Relations and External Partnerships Jerry Doss, nor Thornwood principal Dennis Willis returned phone calls seeking comment.
Agyarko succeeded Rod Galvan, who stepped down in June of 2013 for health reasons. Agyarko was a computer science and technology instructor before becoming athletic director. He was an assistant boys basketball coach under Paul Slavich during the 2011-12 season, but had no prior experience as an athletic director.
As of Tuesday, the school district's website still showed Agyarko as an athletic director and the school's fall schedules also listed Agyarko as athletic director.
