The Beecher boys cross country team finished second at the Class 1A Lisle Sectional on Saturday and earned a berth in the Class 1A state finals in Peoria.
Mount Carmel was fifth at the Class 2A Chicago University Sectional and qualified for the Class 2A state meet.
The Bobcats finished with 142 points, while Latin won with 46 points.
Beecher's Nathan Swanson was ninth overall with a time of 17:40. Garret Toohey was 24th (18:16), and Josh Nehmer was 27th (18:21).
The Caravan's Dan O'Keefe was third overall at Washington Park with a time of 15:55. Brenda Jacobs was 17th (16:45).
Class 3A Edwardsville Sectional: Thornwood's Matthew King was 18th overall (16:33) and qualified for the Class 3A state meet.
Homewood-Flossmoor's Kevin Anderson and Matt Anyiwo were 25th and 26th, respectively, to qualify.
Class 2A Lincoln-Way West Sectional: Washington beat the host Warriors 4-0 to advance to Tuesday's Class 2A Lemont Super-Sectional.
The Patriots will play Nazareth Academy.
Girls cross country
Class 2A Chicago University Sectional: T.f. North's Monica Munoz was 21st overall with a time of 20:29 and qualified for the state meet.
H-F playoff time set: Homewood-Flossmoor will host Naperville Central at 7 p.m. Friday in a Class 8A second-round playoff game.
Class 2A Bremen Semistate: Carly Cappello had a team-high 21 kills, leading Bishop Noll to a 25-21, 20-25, 23-25, 25-19, 15-7 marathon victory over Woodlan and the program's first trip the state championship. Asya Hobbs added 20 kills and eight block kills for the Warriors (30-9), who face Providence (35-4) for the title at noon Saturday in Muncie.
