Golfers to watch: Jessie Ackman, Jr.; Kelsey Bonemma, Jr.; Monica Schurman, Sr.; Haleigh Kuhn, Sr.; Liz Rapacz, Sr.
Outlook: Beecher’s inaugural girls team established a foundation last year, winning the River Valley Conference title with a 10-3 record and scoring a berth in the Class 1A sectionals. Now Ackman, Bonemma and Kuhn, last year’s RVC individual champion, have to build on that.
Golfers to watch: Nina Nicpon, Sr.; Emily Schenck, Jr.; Mira Nicpon, Fr.
Outlook: Marian’s squad doubled in size from four to eight players this year, though the loss of Bree Veazey, off to Washington University in St. Louis, leaves Nicpon as the Spartans’ sole accomplished player.
Nicpon won the Illinois Golfer Challenge at Glenwoodie this summer, and could make noise in the East Suburban Catholic. She’s joined on the squad by her sister, freshman Mira Nicpon, who is battling Schenck for the No. 2 spot.
Golfers to watch: Kendall Paris, Sr.; Kaleigh Wilkins, Sr.; Olivia Bergeron, Fr.; Myranda Scott, Jr.
Outlook: The Vikings could make some noise by playoff time. Paris, whose 87 led H-F at Coyote Run on Monday, sees promise. If each of the top four knocked five strokes off their scores by regional time, they would have a shot at advancing to the 3A sectional en masse, rather than as individuals, as Paris, Wilkins and Scott did last year. The Vikings lost Alex Walker and Divinty Stephens to graduation.
