SOUTH HOLLAND | Seton Academy has named Justin Domingo as its boys basketball coach.
He succeeds Brandon Thomas, who resigned after taking the Sting to a second-place finish in the Class 2A tournament in March.
Domingo was director of player development at St. Rita last year and previously was a varsity assistant the past two years under Mustangs head coach Gary DeCesare.
The Leo grad said he is enthusiastic about taking over the successful program.
"I would like to take the program to the national level," Domingo said. Seton has a good reputation in Chicago, the south suburbs, Indiana and Illinois, but I think we can achieve that national recognition."
The Sting won the Class 2A title in 2009 under Kenny Stevenson and was fourth in 2012 and second in 2013 under Thomas.
"The program has only been around about 10 years, but it has built quite a name under coaches Stevenson and Thomas," Domingo said. "I am every excited to come into an established program."
Seton athletic director Deon Tolliver said Domingo brings a lot of enthusiasm to the job.
"He is excited to carry on the tradition of Seton Academy basketball," Tolliver said. "He is a Catholic League guy."
