First Team


QB — Isaac Cutrara, Homewood-Flossmoor

6-0, 180, Sr.

Stats: 120-of-178 passing for 1,973 yards, 24 TDs, 3 INTs

Bio: He was the Vikings' MVP and was an all-SouthWest Suburban Blue pick. He completed 67.4 percent of his passes and one of the reason's H-F averaged 364 yards and 37.6 points per game.

RB — Matt Domer, Mount Carmel

5-11, 190, Sr.

Stats: 185 carries for 1,467 yards, 16 TDs rushing; 7 catches for 170 yards, 1 TD

Bio: The Times Offensive Player of the Year and the Catholic League Blue's Lawless Award winner led the Caravan to their second straight state title. An Illinois recruit, Domer was unstoppable and was an Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Class 7A all-state selection. He averaged 7.8 yards per carry.

RB — Jimmy Mickens, Mount Carmel

5-10, 220, Sr.

Stats: 198 carries for 1,165 yards, 13 TDs; 2 KOR for 22 yards

Bio: Mickens ran over people and gave the Caravan a 1-2 punch at running back. Mickens was a Catholic League Blue pick.

TE — James Sheehan, Homewood-Flossmoor

6-3, 200, Jr.

Stats: 37 catches for 741 yards, 8 TDs

Bio: He was the team's offensive MVP and was an all-SouthWest Suburban Blue pick. Sheehan averaged 20 yards per catch and also punted.

WR — Jauan Wesley, Thornton

5-11, 165, Sr.

Stats: 51 catches for 806 yards, 6 TDs

Bio: The Iowa State recruit burned quite a few defensive backs. He was an all-SouthWest suburban Red selection and Vanderbilt's Jalen Banks' brother.

WR — Nikita Smith Jr., T.F. North

5-11. 150, Sr.

Stats: 28 catches for 474 yard and 5 TDs

Bio: One of the best athletes on the Meteors. He averaged 16.5 yards per catch.

OL — Steve Dumezich, Mount Carmel

6-5, 265, Sr.

Bio: Dumezich cleared the way for Domer and Mickens and was one of the top linemen in the Catholic League.

OL — Myshawn Smith, Thornton

6-3, 260, Sr.

Bio: One of the best linemen in the SouthWest Suburban Red. He graded out at 90 percent on his blocking.

OL — Tyler Griffith, Homewood-Flossmoor

6-3, 245, Sr.

Bio: He had 22 pancakes and did not allow a sack. he graded out at 91 percent blocking efficiency. He made all-SouthWest Suburban Blue, blocking for an offense that averaged 364 yards and 37.6 points per game.

OL — Darrion Sole, Homewood-Flossmoor

6-1, 235, Sr.

Bio: He blocked with 86 percent efficiency while making all the offensive line calls. All-SouthWest Suburban Blue center.

OL — Josh McCaskel, Crete-Monee

6-3, 300, Sr.

Bio: A three-year starter, he anchored an offensive line that had the highest rushing average per game since 2009. He was an all-Southland athletic Conference pick.

OL — Josh Gentry, T.F. South

6-3, 220, Sr.

Bio: An all-South Suburban Blue pick for the second straight year. He anchored the Rebels offensive line.

ATHLETE — JoWahn Brown, Thornton

6-3, 190, Sr.

Stats: 135-of-222 passing for 1,855 yards, 16 TDs passing, 4 INTs; 97 carries for 487 yards, 6 TDs rushing

Bio: Brown was all-SouthWest Suburban Red and gave fits to defenses for two years. He is a big-time player.

ATHLETE — Justus Brantley, Bloom Township

5-11, 190, Sr.

Stats: 142 carries for 931 yards, 8 TDs; 14 catches for 195 yards and 3 TDs; 7 KOR for 195 yards, 1 TD.

Bio:  He was the Southland Athletic Conference's offensive MVP and was the offensive spark in leading the Blazing Trojans to their second straight playoff appearance.

ATHLETE — Vashon Nutt, Homewood-Flossmoor

5-8, 180, Sr.

Stats: 106 carries for 857 yards, 16 TDs; 17 catches for 223 yards, 6 TDs

Bio: Nutt averaged 7.9 yards per carry and was a threat whenever he touched the ball. He broke several long runs and was named to the SouthWest Suburban Blue Conference team.

K— Morgan Bohlman, Homewood-Flossmoor

6-2, 180, Jr.

Stats: 52 of 56 on PATs, 2-6 FGs

Bio: He was a big part of the Vikings offense as he was nearly automatic.


DL — Steve Richardson, Mount Carmel

6-0, 290, Sr.

Stats: 34 tackles, 31 TFLs for minus (-112 yards), 2 fumbles recoveries, 1 forced fumble

Bio: The Minnesota recruit was an all-Catholic League Blue selection and helped lead up a defense which carried the Caravan to their second straight state title.

DL — Enoch Smith Jr., Mount Carmel

6-2, 275, Sr.

Stats: 48 tackles, 14 TFLs (minus -47 yards),

Bio: The Michigan State recruit, along with Richardson and Deandre Greer made it hard for teams to run on the Caravan. Smith Jr. is also an all-Catholic League Blue pick as the Caravan yielded just 96 points.

DL — Michael Johnson, Homewood-Flossmoor

6-0, 215, Sr.

Stats: 51 tackles, 5 TLFs, 3 sacks

Bio: Heart and soul of the Vikings' defense as he stopped many opposing ballcarriers. The defensive end was an all-SouthWest Suburban Blue selection.

DL/LB — Fred Taylor, T.F. South

6-5, 235, Sr.

Stats:  64 tackles, 4 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries

Bio: He was an all-South Suburban Blue pick and a defensive leader for the Rebels with 41 solos. He also played defensive end and offensive tackle.

DL/LB — Raphael Canty,T.F. South

6-3, 280, Sr.

Stats: 71 tackles, 3 TFLs, 1 1/2 sacks

Bio: He had 42 solos and was another reason why the Rebels made the Class 6A playoffs. He also played on the offensive line. An all-SSC Blue pick.

LB — Nyles Morgan, Crete-Monee

6-3, 230, Sr.

Stats: 59 solos, 27 assists, 12 TFLS, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 3 knock downs, 1 INT for TD

Bio: The Times Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight year, Morgan again dominated and was an Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Class 6A all-state pick. Morgan was also an all-Southland Athletic Conference pick. In a playoff loss to Providence, he returned an interception for a TD, which at the time put the Warriors up 14-12. He has over 30 college offers including Notre Dame, Mississippi and Michigan State.

LB — Kyle Pugh, Bloom Township

6-0, 200, Sr.

Stats: 97 tackles, 6 TFLs, 3 sacks, 2 blocked punts

Bio: He was the defensive leader for the Blazing Trojans and was their leading tackler. He was nominated for the Class 8A all-state and academic all-state teams.

LB — Jariel Brooks, T.F. South

5-10, Sr. LB

Stats: 72 tackles, 4 TFLs

Bio: The Rebels leader in total tackles and solos (45). He played with a lot of heart and determination.

LB Patrick Johnson, Homewood-Flossmoor

5-8, 185, Sr.

Stats: 66 tackles, 9 TFLs, 2 forced fumbles, 3 PBUs

Bio: An all-SouthWest Suburban Blue pick, he led the team in tackles for the second straight year at outside libebacker.

DB — Christian Searles, Mount Carmel

5-9, 170 Sr.

Stats: 24 tackles, 7 PBU, 8 INTs

Bio: All-Catholic League Blue selection, Searles made some big interceptions to stop opponents' drives. He also threw a touchdown pass and was the team's leading receiver with 20 catches for 335 yards and seven TDs.

DB — Deontae Brown, Mount Carmel

6-2, 190, Sr.

Stats: 46 tackles, 10 TFLs (minus -47)

Bio: He also was part of a defense that posted six shutouts. He was an all-Catholic Blue pick.

DB — Deon Benton, Crete-Monee

5-9, 165, Sr.

Stats: 30 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 1 INT.

Bio: Benton also blocked two punts and returned one for a touchdown. He also blocked three kicks and was tough in the secondary.

ATHLETE — Tifonte Hunt, Thornton

6-0, 170, Sr.

Stats: 19 solos, 28 assists, 3 INTs

Bio: He has the eye of several Division I schools and runs a 4.46 40. A two-way player, Hunt also returned two kickoffs for TDs and four punts for scores.

ATHLETE — Omari Stringer, Crete-Monee

6-4, 190, Jr.

Stats: 10 solos, 25 assists, 2 TFL, 1 sack, 1 INT

Bio: Stringer moved to linebacker, but is also a defensive back. He will be one of the top senior prospects next year.

— Greg Ploszaj, Mount Carmel

Stats: 33 punts for 1,183 yards, 35.9 average

Bio: Booted a 71-yard punt which pinned Downers Grove North on its 1-yard line in a Class 7A semifinal game.

Second Team


QB — Aaron Cruz, Washington

6-0, 180 Sr.

Stats: 2,227 yards, 22 TDs

Bio: Was a three-year starter and led the offense.

RB — Anthony Watkins

5-9, 170, So., T.F. North

Stats: 176 carries for 932 yards, 12 TDs, 2 2-pt. PATs

Bio: Watkins put a lot of hurt on teams and also played defensive back. He was a South Suburban Blue pick.

RB Deante Harley-Hampton, Homewood-Flossmoor

5-7, 150, So.

Stats: 68 carries for 427 yards, 7 TDs

Bio: Returned a kickoff 95 yards to for the game-winning score against Stevenson. An all-around player who, with his twin brother Devonte, will be one of the top players in the next two years. He also returned seven kickoffs for 178 yards and a TD, and caught 19 passes.

RB — Devante Harley-Hampton, Homewood-Flossmoor

5-9, 160, So.

Stats: 82 carries, 379 yards, 7 TDs

Bio: He also caught seven passes for 169 yards and five TDs. Like his twin brother, Deante, they will be a double threat the next two years.

WR — Dariel Whitehead, Washington

5-9, 150, Jr.

Stats: 826 yards receiving, 10 TDs

Bio: He was the perfect target for Cruz.

WR — Ki-Jana Crawford, Marian Catholic

5-9, 170, Sr.

Stats: 48 catches for 525 yard, 6 TDs

Bio: Crawford did everything fore the Spartans. He also had 403 kickoff return yards and 152 punt return yards.

OL — Nate Oquendo, Mount Carmel

6-1, 280, Sr.

Bio: One of the reasons the Caravan rushed for nearly 4,000 yards.

OL — Luke Cipich, Mount Carmel

6-0, 250, Sr.

Bio: He was a solid force on the line for Mount Carmel.

OL — Desmond Bland, Homewood-Flossmoor

6-4, 250, So.

Bio: The best is yet to come as he was one of the top linemen in the area.

OL — A.J. Price, T.F. North

6-2, 300, Sr.

Bio: The Meteors best two-way lineman and team leader.

OL — Jamal Williams, T.F. North

6-1, 250, Jr.

Bio: Missed the second half of the season with a broken finger, but was a steady, two-way competitor.

TE — Brendan Griffin, Mount Carmel

6-0, 190, Sr.

Stats: 8 catches, 93 yards, 5 TDS

Bio: His five TD catches were second-best among Caravan receivers.

ATHLETE — Deonta Moses, Thornridge

5-9, 168, Sr.

Stats: Over 1,300 yards receiving and rushing.

Bio: A bright spot in a winless season for the Falcons.

6-2, 175, Sr.

Stats: 20 for 20 PATS, 1 FG, 12 touchbacks

Bio: Also a goalie on the soccer team. He was automatic for the Spartans in what was a tough season.


DL — Deandre Greer, Mount Carmel

6-0, 280, Jr.

Stats: 46 tackles, 10 TFL (minus -47 yards)

Bio: Part of the tough-as-nails defensive line. He is a top prospect.

DL — Chris Slayton, Crete-Monee

6-4, 260, Sr.

Stats: 45 tackles, 9 sacks, 8 knock downs, 1 forced fumble

Bio: One of the top defensive linemen in the state, Slayton dominated off the ball. The all-Southland Athletic Conference pick also played some tight end, catching seven passes for 66 yards and two TDs. He finished the season at right tackle.

DL — Chris Jernigan, Crete-Monee

6-3, 255, Sr.

Stats: 64 tackles, 14 TFLs, 10 sacks

Bio: A mainstay on the Warriors defensive line and a dominant force.

DL — Jay Harvey, T.F. North

6-6, 260, Sr.

Stats: 36 solos, 18 assists, 6 TFLs, 4 sacks

Bio: He was one of the team's top defensive players.

DL — James Coleman, Bloom Township

6-6, 250, Sr.

Stats: 51 tackles, 4 TFLs, 6 sacks

Bio: Played a big role in the Blazing Trojans success. Also missed a few games with an injury.

LB — Nick Johnson, Mount Carmel

6-2, 200, Sr.

Stats: 35 tackles, 22 TFL, 1 forced fumble

Bio: Part of a great defense and linebacking quartet. He came up with several big plays on the way to a state title.

LB — Tim Mason, Marian Catholic

5-10, 194, Sr.

Stats: 80 tackles, 7 TFLs, 1 sack

Bio: Marian's best defensive player.

LB — Lawrence Evans, Bloom Township

5-11, 180, Sr.

Stats: 55 tackles, 3 TFLs

Bio: One of the solid performers on the Balzing Trojans' defense. He made all-SAC.

LB — Bob Brophy, Mount Carmel

6-2, 195, Sr.

Stats: 27 tackles, 7 TFLs

Bio: Brophy was a captain and is 27th in his class. He was very aggressive on the field.

DB — Ka'Ton Mays, T.F. South

6-3, 165, Sr.

Stats: 5 INTs

Bio: Two of is interceptions preserved wins and he was a big part of the Rebels defense.

DB — Torian Lewis, T.F. South

6-0, 175, Jr.

Stats: 4 INTs

Bio: Like Mays, he came up with some big plays for the Rebels.

DB — Jehari Butler, Crete-Monee

6-1, 180,Sr.

Stats: 40 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries

Bio: he also had five pass break-ups and was a force in the secondary.

DB — Colin Knusta, Mount Carmel

5-11, 180, Jr.

Stats: 51 tackles, 2 INTs

Bio: Came up with a big interception in playoff game against St. Rita. Has a nose for the ball.

P — Carlos Gallegos, Marian Catholic

5-11, 165, Sr.

Stats: 40 punts for 1,299 yards

Bio: Gallegos averaged 32.5 yards per punt and
