Former Bloom Township girls cross country and track coach Huey Johnson died this week, Bloom athletic director Joe Reda said.
Thornwood cross country and track coach Roy White said Johnson got the most of his kids.
"I enjoyed Huey's take on things," White said. "I admired the way he was able to have his kids run their best when it counted in the regionals and sectionals. He had some really quality distance girls in cross country. They were no flash in the pan and neither was he. I'll miss his words of wisdom as he and I came from a different era."
