Tim Zasada is expected to be named Reavis' girls basketball coach.
His hiring is pending District 220 board approval at tonight's meeting. His hiring on its agenda for the meeting.
Zasada did not wish to comment until after the hiring is official.
The 1990 Hammond High grad and Calumet City native is already the Rams football coach. He led that program to a 5-4 mark and it just missed qualifying to the state playoffs.
He was formerly the head football and girls basketball coach both at Hammond and T.F. North high schools. At North, Zasada was a three-time Times Illinois girls basketball coach of the year (2006, 2011 and 2012) and two-time football coach of the year (2002 and 2004). At Hammond, he was The Times Indiana football coach of the year in 2000.
He built T.F. North's girls basketball program into a south suburban power and turned its football program into a yearly playoff contender. He accepted the Reavis football job on Jan. 13, 2012. At North, the Meteors upset then-Class 3A No. 1 Hillcrest in 2012 and won the South Suburban Blue title. He sent several players to the Division I ranks in girls basketball, including DePaul's Centrese McGee and recent Alabama-Birmingham grad Karisma Chapman.
