Bowman Academy coach Marvin Rea was pretty pumped last Friday night before his Eagles played at Lake Central. His Eagles had scheduled a game against Chicago Simeon, which will be played Saturday night at Chicago State University.
Simeon is the defending Class 4A state champion in Illinois. Bowman is the defending Class 2A state champion in Indiana.
"It should be a great game," Rea said. "It's a game where we can test ourselves against a great program and see where we're at."

Why play Bowman?: Many suburban boys basketball programs have shunned playing Bowman Academy in a game. Lake Central is not one. The Indians hosted the Eagles last Friday in front of a packed gym.
Bowman won the instant classic 63-58.
"It was a great atmosphere for a high school basketball game," L.C. coach Dave Milausnic said. "Certainly we wish we would've played better. But this is the type of game that helps you prepare for later in the season." -- Steve Hanlon

IHSAA re-signs agreement with Wilson balls: The IHSAA announced recently that it has reached a five-year agreement with Wilson Sporting Goods Co. to continue as the “Official Ball of the IHSAA.”
The renewed agreement, which begins with next year’s fall tournaments, calls for Wilson to provide the competition balls at each level of the IHSAA state tournament in 12 different sports through the 2018-19 school year: baseball, basketball, football, golf, soccer, softball, tennis and, for the first time, volleyball. Wilson has been the official ball provider to the IHSAA since the 1990-91 season.
