Part of the aftermath of an on-court fight Tuesday will find both Lake Central and Hobart girls basketball teams without a player for today's conference matchups.
The Indians meet Michigan City while the Brickies host Kankakee Valley.
When asked what the game plan is to compensate for the missing starters, both coaches had the same answer.
"Next man up," Lake Central coach Marc Urban said. "We had two sophomores go down with ACL injuries, so the next person has to step up. We're going to do everything we can to get the next person ready to go on the road and play a good Duneland school."
"We're like the Bears: next up," Hobart coach Mike Hamacher said. "Next up and we'll see what happens. We've got kids that are capable of doing some things, what they're lacking is experience. This is how they get it."
Crump rises early for Fillies: Jayla Crump played less than three quarters Tuesday night, but she made her minutes count in Kouts’ 50-19 Porter County Conference win over Westville. Crump scored all of her game-high 22 points in the first half, including 16 in the opening quarter.
Morgan’s Coleman reaches milestone: Morgan Township senior Trina Coleman became the seventh player in program history to score 1,000 points. She had 17 in Tuesday’s 51-45 win over Whiting, and now has 1,014 for her career.
