Two Illiana Christian boys golfers qualified for this weekend's Class 2A state meet at Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State University.
Matt Zandstra shot a 78 Monday at the Class 2A Nazareth Academy Sectional at Broken Arrow Golf Course in Lockport. Teammate Steven Massey carded an 80 and both qualified as individuals.
The top three teams and top 10 individuals on non-advancing teams qualify for the state meet.
Illiana finished seventh out of 12 teams with a 356. Glenbard South won the team title with a 317.
Beecher's Michael Barber qualified for the state meet at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington by shooting a 78 at the Class 1A Beecher Sectional.
The Bobcats were sixth as a team with a 350. The top three teams qualify for the state meet. North Shore Country Day won the team title (311).
Class A Gibson City Sectional: Beecher's Jessie Ackman qualified for the state meet Red Tail Run Golf Course in Decatur. She shot an 84.
Boys cross country
Amboy Columbus Day Run: Beecher's Nathan Swanson was 38th overall and the Bobcats finished 13th with 386 points in what is dubbed a "min small schools state meet" at Shady Oaks Country Club in Sublette.
Winnebago won with 91 points.
The Bobcats' Joshua Nehmer was 90th (17:23) and Garret Toohey was 93rd (17:27). out of 223 runners. Teammate Mitch Darabaris was 109th (17:46) and Pat Barton was 128th (18:02).
Girls cross country
Amboy Columbus Day Run: Tessie Hoge's 63rd-place finish led Beecher as it was 21st out of 33 teams at Shady Oaks Country Club in Sublette.
Beecher had 472 points. Wheaton Academy won with 116 points.
