IHSA shows hypothetical playoff list: On its website, the IHSA shows that if the season had ended last weekend, what the playoff picture would be, including class cutoffs.
The ISHA states that the list is not a prediction of the final classes and seeds. The pairings will be announced on Oct. 26.
"A school's football classification (1A through 8A) depends on the makeup of the entire 256-team field. Because the teams in this hypothetical field change from week to week, schools that are 'on the bubble' may move back and forth between classes as the season progresses," the website states.
In Class 8A, Loyola Academy (6-0) would be the top seed with Homewood-Flossmoor (6-0) the second seed.
In Class 7A, Benet Academy (6-0) is the top seed with Mount Carmel (5-1) being No. 8. Thornton (3-3) and T.F. South (3-3) are 31st and 32nd respectively.
In Class 6A, Undefeated Rock Island is the top seed with defending state champion Crete-Monee (5-1) No. 4.
