Carly Cappello's 29 kills paced Bishop Noll to a 18-25, 25-19, 25-20, 23-25, 15-8 marathon win over Merrillville in nonconference girls volleyball action Monday.
Emily Johnson added 31 assists and Brittany Anderson had 23 for Bishop Noll (20-5).
Myranda Harris recorded 12 kills and Riana Todd had 31 assists for the Pirates.
South Central 15-25-20-25-15, Westville 25-16-25-23-9: Bri Satkoski finished with 28 kills, seven digs and four blocks for South Central in Porter County Conference play.
Kaitlyn Jackson added nine kills, 11 digs and two aces for the Satellites (19-3, 5-2), while Katelyn Tucker added 39 assists and three kills.
Gavit 25-25-25, LaLumiere 9-12-19: Amber Earl and Amber Sanders each recorded three aces as the Gladiators cruised to the win.
Vanessa Skierkiewicz led Gavit with six kills.
Munster 25-25-25, Morton 9-16-8: The Mustangs spread the offense around, as Shannon Farrell led the way with seven kills.
Blaire Barnett recorded seven assists, while Morgan Switalla led the Mustangs with 18 assists.
Two local athletes receive IHSGCA All-State recognition: Valparaiso senior Harley Dubsky and Crown Point sophomore Tiffany Curtis were named to the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association All-State Team on Saturday.
A banquet honoring the team will be held Friday at The Golf Club of Indiana in Lebanon.
The selections were made on a points-based system. Points were awarded for performances at invitationals (scoring and finish), nine-hole matches (scoring) and sectionals (scoring and finish).
L.C.'s Curington picks St. Joseph's: Lake Central girls hoops player Rolanda Curington will take her talents to St. Joseph's College next season, committing to the Pumas.
Last year, Curington averaged six points with four rebounds per game for the sectional champion Indians.
