After a big win over Times No. 1 Crown Point on Saturday, Hobart kept the good softball vibe going with an 8-1 win on Monday against local rival Lake Station. Hobart (12-10) got a big day from Brianna Kraft, who went 4-for-4 with two RBIs.
Paige Talian had two RBIs and two runs scored. Dana Claussen threw a four-hitter to get the win.
Kankakee Valley 4, North Newton 0: The Times No. 8 Kougars (18-6) got a great game from pitcher Tori Piatt, who had a no-hitter broken up in the seventh inning. The senior had 11 strikeouts with her one-hitter. Morgan Cavinder doubled for K.V. and Brianna Nemiec got the game's lone RBI.
Bishop Noll 9, Gavit 1: The Times No. 6 Warriors had two runs scored by both Elena Sobilo and Tori Keilman and teammates Jade Acevedo, Katie Richardson and Andrea Fremouw to pick up the non-conference, city win.
Clark 5, River Forest 2: The Pioneers got a double from Kaleigh Martinez to pick up the non-conference win. The Ingots got a double from Kayla Smith.
Lake Central 7, Griffith 0: The Times No. 2 Indians (23-6) got a big day from Abbey Rauch, who had three RBIs and scored a run. Aspyn Novak went 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI and Lizzie Seymour added two hits.
Lowell 9, Morton 3: The Red Devils (13-11) got a little revenge from a sectional loss to the Govs (12-4) last year. Brooke Cummins and Hunter Jusevitch each doubled for Lowell, while Cummins got the complete-game win. The Devils' Alyssa Pokrotinski homered. Ashlie Rossi got two hits for Morton.
Andrean 11, Merrillville 1: The Times No. 7 59ers (14-6) made easy work of their cross-town rivals. Brenna Boyle went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and also had four RBIs. Jessica Adamcyck added three RBIs and Morghyn Neal went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Cat Murad got two hits with one RBI and one run scored.
Kankakee Valley 14, North Judson 3: The Kougars (9-16) got a big day from Andrew Jackson, who was 2-for-2 and scored four times. Matthew Myers had two hits and three RBIs and Isaac Hernandez also doubled and knocked in three.
Griffith 3, Lowell 2: The Panthers got two hits from Brett Brinkley and Robbie Hernandez to pick up the NCC win. Lowell's Dan Garza homered in the game.
Boone Grove 14, Marquette 0: The Wolves (14-4) got a big game from Mike Grimberg, who was 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Caleb Narron went 3-for-4 with two doubles and Dean Hill had two RBIs. Jake Wright, Chuck Kidd and Jon Hogg each had two hits.
Chicago Christian 18, Wheeler 1: On a tough day, Jake Lafever led the Bearcats with two hits.
Portage 5, Whiting 2: Eric Mesarch knocked in two runs, Kevin Jones scored twice and CJ Haupt had two hits as the Indians downed the Oilers. Tyler Retherford went five innings for the win. A.J. Veloz singled, doubled and batted in both Whiting runs.
Hanover Central 12, Clark 2: Zac Maciejewski went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored to lead The Times No. 6 Wildcats (18-4) to the five-inning win.
Boone Grove 170, Andrean 178, Wheeler 178: Jeremy Shaffer's two-over par 38 at Lakes of the Four Seasons led the Wolves (16-2) past the 59ers and Bearcats. Jack Musgrave and Brad Young topped Andrean and Wheeler, respectively, with 41s.
