Hobart's Brandon Murray scored the game's only run on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh as the Brickies beat Kankakee Valley 1-0.

Murray reached on an error, was sacrificed to second and went to third on a ground out to give the Brickies (8-6, 3-2) the Northwest Crossroads win over the Kougars (5-6, 1-4) in a pitchers' duel.

Hobart's C.J. Komosa (2-2) struck out 12 and walked six in throwing a one-hitter. K.V.'s Jack Miles (2-3) tossed a three-hitter.

Chesterton 10, Valparaiso 4 (8 inn.): The Trojans erupted four six runs in the eighth inning to claim the DAC road win over the Vikings.

Austin VanderZanden and Aery Pratt each notched two hits, with VanderZanden (two runs) and Michael Griffin each plating a pair for Chesterton. Ethan Lehnen went 2 for 4 and Jeremy Post knocked in two runs for Valpo.

Boone Grove 7, Morgan Township 2: Kyle Erickson worked 4 1/3 innings of shutout relief as the Wolves (9-1, 1-0) topped the Cherokees (6-4, 0-2) in the PCC. Cody Poynter had a two-run double and scored twice for Boone, which got two hits each from Chuck Kidd and Jason Sawa. Morgan had 10 singles, two apiece for Adam Rettinger, Will Swisher and Jake Koselke.

Washington Township 6, South Central 0: Tyler Frey tossed a three-hitter, striking out 12, and Tyler Byerly (two doubles, two walks) scored four runs to lead the Senators (7-1, 1-0) over the Satellites (6-2, 1-1) in the PCC.

Hanover Central 15, Kouts 0: Jesse Wilkening singled, doubled and homered, scoring three runs and knocking in five as the Wildcats (7-2, 2-0) roughed up the Mustangs in the PCC. Dan Stum and Riley Welch (two RBIs) were both 3-for-4, while Evan Garthus and Ryan Kickert each picked up two hits and two runs for Hanover. Daniel Balich blanked Kouts (5-1, 0-1) on two hits.

Hebron 10, LaCrosse 0: Zac Hernandez and Mike Mikulich combined onĀ  a five-inning one-hitter for the Hawks (4-3, 1-1) in their PCC victory. Kyle Joyce, singled and doubled twice, scoring two runs and batting in two. Stephen Doelling was 2-for-3 with three runs and Drew Wheeler went 2-for-2.

Clark 4, Gavit 1: Rene Zamora drove in two runs with a double to spark a four-run rally in the fifth inning for Clark (3-4, 0-1 Great Lakes Athletic Conference).

Pioneers starter Dillon Slowiac was touched for a run in the first inning, but shut down the Gladiators for the rest of the game while striking out 11 and walking just one.

Calumet 10, Lew Wallace 0 (5 inn.): Marcus Jackson was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Kurt Bavia was 2 for 3 with an RBI for the Warriors (3-5).

A.J Willis went the five-inning distance while striking out 10 and yielding one hit to improve his record to 2-1.

Morton 18, Hammond 0: Sophomore Toby Mielenz (2-0) struck out 11 and allowed one hit as the Governors (5-4, 2-0) thumped Hammond in GLAC action.

Aurelio Cazares had two hits and scored four runs for Morton, Devonte Robinson added two hits and three runs and Tim Skalba cracked a bases-clearing double.

Softball

Bishop Noll 10, River Forest 0 (5 inn.): Winning pitcher Tori Keilman had three RBIs and the host Warriors (10-2, 5-1) scored four runs either on River Forest errors or wild pitches in their abbreviated Greater South Shore Conference game.

Ariana Luchene had the Ingots' only hit -- a second-inning single.

Hebron 14, LaCrosse 0 (5 inn.): Maggie Lindeman (2-3) tossed her first no-hitter of the season, adding nine strikeouts in a Porter County Conference win over the Tigers. Kyle Doelling was 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Hawks (2-3, 1-1).

Audrey Sutherland was 2-for-3 with four RBIs; Bri Lewin was 2-for-3 with two runs scored plus Rachel Pauer and Bri Spicer added doubles.

South Central 4, Washington Township 2: Madisyn Walter went the distance with six strikeouts as the visiting Satellites (5-4, 2-1) defeated the Senators in PCC play. Hannah Kohout had two hits, including an RBI double.

Boys golf

Munster 157, Portage 169: A.J. Gauthier and Matt Specht were co-medalists at 1-over par 37 in leading the Mustangs (4-0) past the visiting Indians (4-2) at Centennial Park.

Girls tennis

Whiting 4, Merrillville 1: The Oilers kept their undefeated season intact while sweeping the singles matches with Grace Huff and Brianna Baez recording straight-set wins and Maira Huiza rebound from a 1-6 setback in the middle set to win the third.

The No. 1 doubles pair of Kaylyn Anderson and Mariah Aguilera also won for Whiting.
