Portage athletic director Kelly Bermes was forced to resign, according to an email sent Monday to members of the high school coaching staff with assistant A.D. Fred Joseph moving into the position.

Neither Bermes nor Joseph could be reached for comment.

Portage superintendent Amanda Alaniz could also not be reached late Monday.

Lowell 1, Boone Grove 1: Jeremy Henson scored for the Red Devils and Dakota McCollum had the tally for the Wolves as the match was played to a draw.

Illiana Christian 5, Marian Catholic 0: Isaac Gomez notched a hat trick in the win for the Vikings (9-4-1). David Gomez added a goal and a pair of assists. Josh Smits had a goal.

Washington Twp. 1, Michigan City 1: Tyler Smolar scored for the Senators on an assist from Bryan Vences.

Thornton Fractional 2, Shepard 1: Marco Ayala and Jefferson Adeolu had the goals for Thornton Fractional (7-6). Lalo Melgoza added an assist.

Chesterton 4, Hobart 0: Harley Lohmeyer scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Trojans (8-5-2). Robbie Capehart, Caleb Haire and Logan Stewart also had goals. Doug Filipek (one save) and Nick Harman (three saves) combined for the clean sheet.

Marquette Catholic 11, Kouts 0: Will Cannon collected a hat trick and a pair of assists as the Blazers (10-3-2) blasted by the Mustangs. Joe Disser and Sidney Mahone each scored two goals. Jon Beglin had a goal and two assists. Robert Luscomb, Gavin O'Halloran and Bryan Gonzalez also scored.

Clark 2, Highland 1: Alex Lopez and Marco Medina found the back of the net for the Pioneers (11-3). Sam Perez and Mauricio Marquez had assists. Josiah Calderon made 12 saves.

Hebron 8, Westville 0: Brooklyn Rhoades had a pair of goals and an assist as the Hawks rolled the Blackhawks. Katlyn Cherry added a goal and two assists. Kyleigh Laska and Rachel Miley had a goal and an assist. Haley Rokosz, Allison Hano and Kylee Babiak added goals.

Boone Grove 11, Washington Twp. 2: Lexi Darnell notched a pair of goals and added three assists in a blowout win for the Wolves. Lauren Cason also scored two goals. Brooke Burbridge had a goal and two assists. Hailee Schultz, Jessica Conner, Taylor Farney, Addison Guerra, Alivia Peters and Hannah Wojtyska all had goals.

Girls volleyball

Bishop Noll 26-25-24-25, Lake Central 24-22-25-23: Bella Kuechenberg piled up 25 kills for the Warriors in a win over the Indians. Elizabeth Buksa added 10 kills. Alexandra Traciak had 22 digs.

Lake Station 25-25-16-18-15, Clark 12-12-25-25-7: Bridget Collins racked up 15 kills as the Eagles (8-9) won in five sets. Teammate Alorah Hooper had six kills.

Rebecca Larios led the Pioneers (9-12) with seven kills.

Porter County Conference tournament

Boone Grove 25-25-25, Hebron 11-16-12: Rachel Wilkening had 13 kills and seven digs for the Wolves (24-4). Josie Joiner had seven aces and nine kills. Abby Foster recorded eight kills on 18-of-18 hitting. Sydney Dixon had six aces.

Kouts 25-25-25, LaCrosse 11-15-15: Hannah Maier notched 13 kills in a win for the Fillies. Sadie Leatherman added seven kills. Abby Maier was 67-of-67 setting with 26 assists.

Boys volleyball

Porter County Conference tournament: Hebron defeated Boone Grove (25-17, 25-14, 25-14) as Peyton Doelling led the Hawks with 20 kills. Carson Roeske chipped in 11 kills. Steve Miskus had 42 assists.

Boys tennis

New Prairie 3, Wheeler 2: Clayton Sanders (No. 2 singles) and Ahmed Safadi (No. 3 singles) recorded wins for the Bearcats (9-5).

Calumet 5, Hammond Academy 0: Daniel Nieto outlasted Zack Garcia at No. 1 singles for the Warriors (10-5). Eric Koi won at No. 3 singles. James Sopariz and Juan Lopez added wins at No. 1 doubles.

Merrillville 3, Lowell 2: Keith Rochefort and Cameron Louthan won for the Pirates in singles play. Ivan Sahugan and Josh Roberts picked up the other win at No. 2 doubles.
