Morgan Wright's 20 points outscored Marquette by herself in South Central's 59-17 girls basketball rout of the Blazers on Monday.
Wright had a pair of 3s for the Satellites (2-1).
Merrillville vs. Valparaiso DAC opener moved: Because of the Merrillville football team's advancement to the semistate round of the postseason, the Pirates girls basketball game at Valparaiso has been moved to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
The game is the conference opener for both teams.
IBCA names weekly winners: Wawasee senior KiLee Knafel, Richmond sophomore Mackenzie Taylor and Charlestown sophomore Justice Burden are the first IBCA/Subway Players of the Week for the 2012-13 season. They were recognized for their performances the week of Nov. 5-10.
Knafel, a 5-7 senior wing, poured in a career-high 42 points in a 64-41 season-opening victory over Westview. The 5-6 Taylor averaged 24.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 7.5 steals in two games as Richmond opened with a pair of victories, 55-24 over Centerville and 89-36 over Union County. Burden, a 5-11 sophomore wing, notched a double-double as Charlestown began its season with a 64-37 triumph over Southwestern (Hanover). Burden tallied 21 points and 14 rebounds for the Pirates.
District 1 nominees from the area included LaPorte's Jaclyn Heath, Michigan City's Toni Murphy, Valparaiso's Grace Withrow and South Central's Riley Popplewell.
Boys winners will be chosen starting in two weeks.

Chesterton game moved: Mishawaka's football team plays in Friday's Class 4A Northern Semistate, prompting the move of Saturday's season-opening game with Chesterton to Dec. 8. The JV tipoff time is 5 p.m. Also, Chesterton will host E.C. Central in a scrimmage Thursday. Admission is $3 or a canned good, which will be donated to the Westchester Food Pantry.
Marquette schedules intrasquad games: Marquette High School will hold an intrasquad scrimmage Friday. The C and JV teams will play at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity at 7. Admission is a pair of socks, a stocking hat or gloves, which will be donated to a local homeless shelter.
